Seeing Foligno stood up for a teammate by fighting an "enforcer" (I use that term loosely, as Sestito can't fight), he's my pick of the day for captain. :D

If it seems like I'm crazy about the Pres. and GM, then I'm not being clear- I'm skeptical of those guys, particularly Jarmo. He seems effective at accomplishing what he wants to accomplish, but my reservations about him are growing.

We need time to be able to evaluate the individuals in question. My feelings about the franchise being run well are based the change in the structure of the front office- there are more guys in charge, and they are all hockey guys (no Priest). Also, the owner seems supportive, which seems like a change from before Davidson.
I think you put it best, we need time. It's seems like every one is ready to sell the farm already, when the CBJ are a young (only getting younger over the next few years potentially ) skilled team, plagued with offensive injuries. At first it was the depth, now the top 6. It's hard to play consistent hockey when everyone is in and out.

Really I think expectations are for them to be back on track by the Olympic break. That puts them in a position to make a push with a solid finish. However on the same note if we don't have things turned around by then the season COULD be lost depending how the standings shape up.

This speaks volumes

It says to me that that don't believe that they don't have anyone that they feel is captain material on the roster at this time

They aren't going to name one just to have one

It could be that they don't feel that there is captain material or it could be that they just don't think its vital to the group right now to name someone. How would we know?

Or:

There are several and they prefer to wait until someone moves head and shoulders above the others.

They aren't going to name one just to have one.

Or the person who sews the letters is out right now along with half our roster.

I'd like to see either Jenner or Murray get an A at some point in the future, probably from either Boll or Letestu.

If every player on the roster were asked to fill out a ballot with three names on it, with the most total mentions being named captain, Derek MacKenzie would have the C on his jersey tomorrow.

I personally think that this is a carrot scenario. With multiple players all having stepped up their games and looking like possible captain material, there is likely a fear that actually naming one could cause a letdown or even a split in the locker room. As the late Herb Brooks would say, "This team isn't talented enough to win on talent alone." By dangling the vacant C, everyone can focus on chasing that by playing the game balls out.

“@smitchcd: #CBJ captaincy came up again today. Coach Todd Richards again said it hasn't been topic of internal discussion. Said no 'C' working for now.”

I don't know why it's such a huge deal. The players aren't having any problem getting motivated, it seems. And there is cohesion. The older guys (Johnson, Dubinsky, Horton, Umberger, Foligno, Wisniewski, Mackenzie, Letestu) know what is expected of them and how to act. The young guys (Johansen, Jenner, Murray, Atkinson, Calvert, Savard) are leaders in their own rights, often of their junior teams. That really just leaves the Russians (Anisimov, Tyutin, Bobrovsky, Nikitin) who seem to be keeping each other accountable.

I agree it's not happening this and maybe even next season, but the beat writers can't let it go.

Seems to be the only ones concerned.

And few posters when the subject is raised again by said beat writers but even that is pretty quite now.

Winning solves a myriad concerns.:)

That seems llike an idiotic comment.
