Has Florida got good return on that Bobrovsky investment or it's still not enough?

Bob struggled when the Panthers were running and gunning and often leaving him hung out to dry. His “turnaround” greatly coincides with the Panthers renewed focus on defensive play. Bob, and I imagine every goalie, is much better when he doesn’t have to try to be Superman every single game. He’s always been a great goalie.

Yes they did
1 cup final and 1 cup.
They are still looking good to compete this year.
Bob was a big part of their success so far.

Sixth in Regular Season Starts, Fourth in Regular Season Wins, 16/31 in SV% amongst goalies with at least 150 GP in that time, 34 Playoff Wins (2nd in that timeframe) including a SCF loss and SCF win.

While a bit rocky, I think Florida having mostly stable goaltending when their Defense has been pretty shaky is a lot more valuable than something like raw SV% can capture. They really aren't a Vegas the year they won the Cup where their defense was so good at limiting chances that they could probably get away with any guy back there.

It's not a "great" contract, but it's not a bad one and it's very uncertain if they get a Cup with a few more cap dollars and trying to find someone else. In the modern NHL, goaltending is harder to find than it was a decade ago. Teams like Toronto have gone their whole "window" so to speak hoping and praying for someone to emerge and it hasn't happened.

2023 Cup Finals as starter and was more or less the main reason they got there.
2024 Cup win as starter and a big reason they got it.

Yes, it was worth it. Don't forget that it was their first stanley cup in franchise history AND Bob took them to the cup finals the year before so they gained massive playoff revenue back to back years.

Has the bobrovsky contract been positive value? No.

Would they change things if given the chance to go back in time? Also no. A cup in the hand is worth 2 in the bush

I feel goaltending has been undervalued for a long time now. Most teams / fans think a 1-2 punch is the best.
Come playoff time IMO you have to have a clear cut #1

True most of time, but it also depends greatly on how good the overall defense is in front of the goalie, recalling that Vegas won the Cup with their #3 and #4 goalies (or #4 and #5, depending on how one ranked them). So there are outliers which belie the general rule.

They've gone to one final, won a cup(and counting?). The Panthers is a serious team after so many years after being a punching bag. It's absolutely been worth it, if they have to suffer a bit from it in the future, they'll take it.

that is what a lot of non Panther fans are asking...

IS this thread now just to be an ego bump for their fan base or it is people who think only in regular season performance and like to ignore things like playoffs and actually winning?
