Being tied with Teravainen in points after 3 games isn’t really an indication of anything.

it wasnt about the points man

did you watch him last night? like he was just so on plus like it was like he was focusing on proving the criticisms from his rookie year wrong

his team still sucks and the Oilers are doing their slow start thing again but that was a statement game

it is of course just one game but like... i know which bet i would take on if he keeps it up and improves vs not

Bedard was lights out last night. If you look at games like last night (or his 4 point Tampa Bay game last year) where he's firing on all cylinders, you really see just how dominant he can be. If he can continue developing a rhythm that leverages his tools, he'll be able to produce in so many different ways bc of his hockey IQ.

If I can be pleased about Bedard scoring a goal and handing out two assists in a game that was not very flattering for McDavid and the Oilers, and getting off to an electric start overall, why can’t you?

Hey we were in agreement he’s not on McDavid’s level. I’ve had tons of posts praising the kid and I feel like you guys already know that. I said as soon as the second half of this season he could become the best offensive player besides the Kucherov’s, MacKinnon’s, and McDavid. That’s pretty high praise for a 19 year old on that Chicago squad.

No I watched the one from the night before. Doesn’t mean he’s on McDavid’s level now, but doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be thrilled if he was either.

Here's today's Sportsnet Halford and Borough podcast headline :

Was Bedard overhyped ? Lol. They basically wrote him off. Saying he will never be at Crosby or Mcdavid's level. Ok. Whatever you say boys. Receipts.

Someone texted in the show and said Bedard will just be Kane with a better shot. To be fair , the hosts said if he's Kane with a better shot , then he's generational

You are collecting a lot of receipts that you will never be able to cash. He can be a superstar but generational like McDavid and Crosby were, absolutely not.

Bedard is already generational. Just like Lindros was as his career started. Lindros is still considered generational and a HOFer even after just getting over 100 points once. And no cups. Just one Hart and one Ted Lindsay.

The fact that you're comparing Lindros to Bedard is a joke. Lindros was miles ahead in pure talent-wise and physicality. Give me what you're drinking

Funny to see someone collecting receipts that will prove them wrong.

He's so generational that he has the same amount of points as Seth Jones and Teravainen. And more than half of his points are secondary assists.

Gooner McJaded was barely PPG in his rookie year, and now people think of him higher than Gretzky.

Give Connor some time.
And he was 3rd in the league in pts/gp.

What is Bedard's rank in that metric last year?

Dude probably has a top-3 shot in the league but seems to have hit a dry spell off the bat: one goal in 20 shots. Do hat tricks pour in once his luck turns around? Or is his shot selection poor?

Bedard will be a star why can’t that be enough. Insane skill, elite (maybe generational) wrist shot. He will be a 100 point player, he won’t be McDavid who is a cyborg

McDavid was 3rd in pts per game at just over a ppg, that was a league where if you were ppg you were basically a top 5 player, its not 2015 anymore.

Not to say I don't agree with you about Bedard becasue being ppg at 18/19 on a bad team is still absolutely insane. But McDavid being just "barely ppg" was top 3 in the league when he was that age. Bedard is still gonna be an all-time great though, maybe just a bit worse than McDavid which is no shame.

I'm trying to imagine Bedard playing in the Lindros era lol.
