As a fan I have to concur with that. I was in my early-mid 20s when the Islanders won 4 straightWon a cup, that’s all that matters
I honestly don't care if they win another game as long as I live

And?Those Boston guys played in 3 cup finals and won one of them.
Neither Makar, MacK or the Avs have come close to that kind of consistency over 20 years yet. Theres a lot of work to be done if they want to reappear in another final. And?
They won a cup less than 5 years ago.And fading.
They’ve had no success since that cup and have had the GM make a few self inflicted gunshots.
Sure a cup is a great and all that matters, but sustained success should be the goal because one day that cup you won is 30 years in the past and not relevant. So yes. They won a cup, congrats to them. But since then? Nothing but exits from the playoffs despite being heavily favoured from all the pundits and media.
Hence the talk of Colorado underachieving with them vs. the overachievers in BostonNeither Makar, MacK or the Avs have come close to that kind of consistency over 20 years yet. Theres a lot of work to be done if they want to reappear in another final.
you really don't care about winning a game?As a fan I have to concur with that. I was in my early-mid 20s when the Islanders won 4 straight

Yah. Exactly my point. Those old cups don’t hold much weight today do they? Look at my oilers. 5 cup, last one in 90 six years before the avs first one. Doesn’t mean much to me and certainly not worth arguing over or using as some “gotcha” to prove a point online.
Winning the cup is everything for the players, it’s their accomplishment and no one can take that away from them ever. But as a fan it’s doesn’t mean anything. It’s doesn’t make you a better fan.
So your team wins a cup in 2022, it’s now 2052. Your team has had a run of bad luck. Getting knocked of the playoffs early for a years and then rebuilds and it doesn’t go smoothly. And it’s been a few years since you made the playoffs. Are you, as a fan still whipping and high diving that cup win in 2022 and using it as a point in arguments with other fans about why your team doesn’t suck?
I know for me in my 40s I’m not using the 90 cup win for the oilers for anything other than a historic fact. So you won it. Cool. Whats happening now?
lol we’re still hearing how “close the oilers were” in 2006. Yet teams aren’t supposed to celebrate actually winning it just slightly longer… ok… sure…In the 80s lol
If the Oilers win this year you will not care what happens for the rest of this decade, rightfully
By that logic the only team they can celebrate anything is Tampa Bay then? And fading.

im not using 30 years as a gotcha, im using 30 as a nice round number becuase my team hasnt won since 1990. Im using my experience. Sometimes i forget its 2025 and not 2020. TIme flies fast. You can’t fault a team for not winning the cup. There’s 1 cup winner a year and 32 teams. Statistically speaking, each team can win the cup once and it could take 31 years to win another if there’s a new winner every year. Even longer if you count Atlanta. Now take into account multiple teams winning in those 31 years and it’s even less and less cups to go around. Using a 30 year benchmark for 3 different cups isn’t the “gotcha” you think it is.
only from idiots.lol we’re still hearing how “close the oilers were” in 2006. Yet teams aren’t supposed to celebrate actually winning it just slightly longer… ok… sure…
The Avs have been favorites or near favorites to win the cup since the start of 2021, and only made it past the second round once. I don't recall the Sens being in the same position, because while they had a great team, they didn't have a Makar and MacKinnon-type of talent, and a top supporting cast on top of that such as Rantanen, Nichushkin, Toews, and Landeskog. To me, Chicago, Kings, and the Penguins had inferior rosters than the AVS and have achieved more regardless.I wish my Sens "underachieved" by winning a single Cup in the 2000s.
look at you making it tribal.By that logic the only team they can celebrate anything is Tampa Bay then?
At least until Edmonton wins the cup and then it changes right?
You’re the one shitting on fans who say their team won a cup 3 years ago…look at you making it tribal.
The point is, todays win is tomorrow's 30 years ago we won. Be humble and just enjoy the damn games for what they are, entertainment, not a tribal "my dick is bigger than yours" because a team you like won something.
