Seeing these kids playing at the WJC brought me to a really interesting question. How long until Japan's Aito Iguchi gets suited up for the tourney?

Probably never. Honestly, this seems like another Omark situation. Plenty of flashy moves, but nothing special. I can't imagine the competition is great out there, would't be hard for one or two guys to stand out.

IIHF protection rules.

Same reason they called Finland and put them two men down, because someone skated without a helmet on (although didn't participate in the play).

They don't want to risk a 14 year old flashy phenom getting destroyed by a 19 year old monster.

Who in their right mind would ever put a 14 year old out on the ice in this tourney, considering all the safety issues?

Probably not as much this tournament but the lower levels of the U20 where the competition is much worse, and countries have much less depth. Anyone with the skill of a 14 year old Crosby would probably rip up division 2B or 3 if one of those countries ever had anything close to a Crosby like player.

Mutis probably refers to

Mutsis = your mom :laugh:

What a thread for Finns.

Or it could be a racist thing... Various derivations from "muta"(mud) are sometimes used as slurs for darker complexioned individuals. Though if this thing actually originates with that Swedish poster from HF, your explanation is far more likely.

I definitely want to see a Perkele in the NT though... Sadly according to the Population Registry Centre(sort of like our Census Bureau) there aren't any(and won't be since it's illegal to adopt a 'profane' name I think).

Exactly. If a Finn was to say "mutis perkele", people would definitely think about a black person more often than they would think about somebody's mother.

Mikael Granlund could have played 4 WJCs, but didn't because he was injured just before WJC 2011. This is still disturbing me, because I'm really curious of how he would have performed there

Actually looks like a 14 year old played for Iceland this year despite the supposed age restriction.
