Agree. The big difference today was Kinkaid wasn't in goal. Pack outshot Bridgeport 32-18. Brodzinski picks up Bridgeport turnover behind the net and passes out from to Newell for 3-2 lead. But Pack have defensive breakdown and Bridgeport gets open shot from above the circle. The camera is behind the play so it's hard to see whether Wall screened or just missed shot but third shot from above the circle that Wall lets in. Fourth goal is another defensive breakdown where Bridgeport player walks in from the side and passes across the net and looked like it went in off a Bridgeport player skate.
Over 3 games Reunanen and Brodzinski are the players that consistently stick out. Khodorenko, Cuylle, Barron and Reuschhoff had had moments. Schneider looked good in his 2 games. Rest of the players, meh. Not bad just meh.
I think Barron still looks a bit hesitant at times. he's trying to time and read plays as opposed to just being aggressive and forcing the opposition to make mistakes. He has the size and the reach. And he has a decent shot and some vision. He's just not asserting his size and will on opponents consistently yet. And as a result he's not playing fast enough or involved enough. He has the skills to drive play more and he's not doing it.
This is usually an issue for players transitioning to the pro game, but more so with kids coming from Juniors or Europe. They tend to hang out in soft spots on the ice instead of pressuring the puck relentlessly. Barron, perhaps because he was relied on for his offense at Cornell, has a bit too much of that in his game.
On the opposite end, Reuschoff, who also just came out of school, has similar strengths to Barron but he tends to keep his feet moving more and as a result seems more effective than Barron. He seems to me to be the better version of Gettinger. Could be a good fourth liner if he keeps showing more and more aggressiveness.
That said, Barron finds a way to get on the scoresheet. I just want him to be more impactful in all areas.
