So, did they send down that kid that just signed the AHL deal? Or release him? Doesn't that give the pack 4 goalies again?
just 2 healthy and with team
they released the PTO guy back to Danbury of FPHL, he was never intended to play* except, as EBUG, for that 1st Boyko start when not enough time to get Ollas to that game
Domingue is with NYR w Shesty out
Garand is day-to-day,

(note, unlike many recent seasons, Pack do not have a Goalie on an AHL contract;
but unlike most recent season they have 4 guys in minors on NHL deals)

*McCollum, turning 28 on Tuesday, has never played at a 'competitive' level,
he was strictly a local emergency fill-in on short notice

Looking for Hartford experts. Oshawa Generals fans here. There has been rumblings that Dylan Roobroeck is being sent back down to the OHL within the next week.

Does anyone here have any insight to how he's been playing? I can see the stat sheet but that doesn't always tell the full picture and doesn't show TOI.

Thanks in advance

from my viewings he is very awkward and lanky but he's definitely effective at the AHL level. He plays both special teams units and gets consistent 3rd line minutes. I've never seen him benched or anything and he has played in every game. I'm not sure why he'd go to the O, he's been pretty ok for a rookie who was a 6th round pick

Effectly what he played in the O but obviously 1st/2nd line minutes.

There's been rumors due to his long pointless streak that he may get back. It's also to know that Oshawa is going for a deep run at the memorial cup this year.

Oshawa also still has him rostered and listed as a scratch every game.

fwiw he was 1+1 on NYE and his line with Chmelar (another 1st year pro)/3rd forward has been ice cold in December. The Pack as a whole have had scoring issues outside their top line though I definitely wouldn't look at the Pack lineup and says Roob is a major part of their offensive ineptitude.

since we're on the topic of Roob he had his first fight like a week ago after a big hit. he got ragdolled a bit by a guy 5 inches shorter than him but with Roob's frame i'm not surprised. he's very light for his size and his balance isn't great.

Rumors from whom?

given Oshawa's 6th best OHL points%, that run seems far from certain
Yes but the trade deadline is this week and Oshawa is a buyer this year as it's a rotational league in Junior.

Rumors from whom?
Many insiders within the hockey community have heard he may return which is why Oshawa hasn't added an Overager yet as he would fill the slot.

Overage deadline is the 9th so we will know one or another in a week but given he's still on the active roster, it begs to question.

Can you post a link to where they said it? Because we haven't heard anything over here. Not that that's surprising, but it seems like it might be speculation rather than actual insider knowledge.

I can think of no reason why Roobroeck would go back. If they thought he wasn't quite ready for the AHL yet, they would have either sent him back before now, or they would have moved him down to the ECHL. Hartford has played 30 games and Roobroeck has played in every one of them. That doesn't seem like a guy who might be sent back to juniors as an overager.

I can't, no. Lots of DMs and chatter but to you point, it could be more speculation than not.

I was just curious what the word of mouth was down there and was curious how he's playing.

Like I said, we will know either way by the 9th.

Roo ain't going back to juniors. He is not a bad rookie in the AHL by any means and is improving. If he keeps on the same path he will finish with 30ish points and as a 20 year old (that doesn't turn 21 till summer) that's fantastic.

He ain't a fighter though. I know he has done it, but he is more a big physical player that can if need be defend himself. Excited to see him finish the year and what he has next year. Could be a Ranger in 26-27. Even if not though, he'd still only be 22. He has time.

Good find. Been waiting to see him scrap. Like Rempe, he needs to fill out at that height. Big strength difference when it’s a 28 yr old against a 20 yr old. When he’s able to lock out someone like that it’ll be a different story.

Good for him to get into to some scraps at this level

some rational online speculation is
Garand and Domingue both dinged up, so possibly questionable near-term
and McCollum, rather than Ollas, was added, as double backup, for the road trip, as he was closer
(he plays for Danbury of FPHL, "single A' Federal Prospects Hockey League)

meanwhile, the alarmists are preparing for a
Garand trade to Pitt, because they had execs at a recent Pack game
