Ponomarev scored at the end of the 2nd
3-0 Penguins.
Boyko in net.
Down low dirty goals. Can’t blame Talyn.
Othmann drove the net so there’s one positive.

Not if they keep trying to make Rempe a thing.

The sad thing is he's basically what people want Rempe to be minus the dirty hits.
i'm going to take this a step further

I don't actually think Rempe is a mean player. Or overly aggressive one. He was told what he has to do to play in the NHL and he does it, to varying degrees of success. He was a skill player in the Dub. You can tell he never really played that physical because it took him two years for him to effectively hit at the AHL level (still a mile away from it at the NHL level). He clearly did not know how to fight and added that to his game as a pro too.

Chmelar has been a massive prick since his first day in the pros (he can't get away with a lot of what he does in College) and it comes very naturally to him. The roughing penalties he takes every 3 games speak for themselves. Chmelar is not only a much meaner/more aggressive player, he will be way more impactful too.

I don't think Rempe wasn't ever a skill guy. He scored in the WHL like almost all guys with any kind of NHL talent will do. The whole thing about "even goons score in juniors." And he went from 31 points in 47 games his first WHL season to 23 in 56 in his final WHL season AND he was suspended 4 times that year. I think you're right that people were in his ear telling him what he needed to do to make the NHL but he was heading down that path, anyway.

I remember AK was not a fan of him (I think he's a Seattle supporter and watched him a good bit) and I watched him a lot and thought he was kind of a joke. I didn't even think he'd earn a contract because he wasn't good at anything other than standing in front of the net.

How far out is Chmelar? Hard not to get excited about these kids with how successful Cuylle, Berard, Edstrom, and even Rempe in an extremely small sample, have looked. Im looking forward to Othmann's callup. Mancini looks like he has some ceiling even if he is not quite ready. Perreault and Fortescue and Laba in Hartford next year?

Sykora, Chmelar and Laba could get looks next year. BMB/Roobroeck and Fortescue after that.

let's just f***in trade kreider or smith and play othmann. it's time

Im fine with more seasoning for Othmann especially coming off injury. But its so clear Kreider is the domino to drop among the core 3 forwards. Laf, Cuylle, Othmann all LWs. Not to mention Panarin who we need to stomach for another year+.

Yeah I think he needs 15 games in the NHL this year or else he becomes Group 6 UFA. If we give him the 15 games he'll be RFA.
We're too close to the last wild-card spot. I don't think Drury has given up on that yet.
