how have Sykora and Robertson been looking?

Robertson is steadier than last season but still not at NHL prospect level.
Sykora is a difficult prospect for me to evaluate.
He that high energy, defensively sound forward that every NHL team would carry 20/30 years ago.
I don’t see a fit for him in today’s NHL. He hasn’t shown any passing or shooting skills which most NHL 3rd liners possess. He does carry the puck well up the ice, so that’s a positive.
On the smallish side to be a 4th liner.
Sykora is on the early side of 20 so I certainly wouldn’t write him off.

Part of that was because of penalties from the looks of it. Mancini took a penalty and 10 seconds later, Mackey took a double minor.

21 shots against total in the 1st and Garand kept them all out.

From what I saw of Sykora last year, he's good on the boards. He could be a good complimentary player.

If they’re there to look at DiPietro they wasted their time. Only 13 shots on goal for Hartford.

Chmelar is a bit bigger and he skates really well. Cuylle's just got better hands. Will looks to me like he's destined to be a top 6 winger. Chmelar if he makes it to the NHL and I think he has a pretty decent chance is going to be a bottom 6 winger who chips in points. He's done alright at Providence College and Hartford production wise but he's not really a guy that puts up lots of points. Also his +/- of a -15 seems like an outlier when the next worse is Harpur with a -5. I wouldn't worry so much about that when it comes to a rookie pro but it does suggest that maybe he needs to work a little on his play away from the puck. That's often the case with first year pros though.

He's got size though and the skating and he uses both. He throws some big hits. I could see him getting a look/see with the Rangers maybe not this year but maybe next year. There is a lot to like.

If he can use to that size and speed to wear down the opposing D, do a decent job cycling, and force his way to the front of the net, sign me up.

think of Fast level diet Tom Wilson (without the fighting). His physicality is not limited to hits and forecheck, he's very aggressive and mean.

HIs production if he ever makes it might be in that 20 to 25 point range. He's a lot bigger and stronger than Fast and he's showing something of a nasty side. He can be a heavy hitter. One of the main things about Fast is he's always been a really good defensive forward. Chmelar is going to have to work on that.

If some of these younger guys really hit for the Rangers we're not going to be a very nice team to play against. We've been looking at Rempe and Edstrom the last couple years. Berard's small but has an edge. Chmelar and Roobroeck are very big and strong and physical players too. Sykora hardly ever takes a penalty but he hits quite a lot and is a bit of a buzzsaw. McConnell-Barker's a good two way forward. I think all of the above have a pretty good chance at becoming NHL players but if they do they'll probably be bottom 6 guys. Othmann has a bit of edge too. He has top 6 potential but could be more of a middle 6 guy--sometimes 2nd line/sometimes 3rd. Some might also be moved because there's only room for so many but as long as they all keep improving we have options where maybe we don't have to get an older free agent to fill a role.

Perreault to me is the jewel of the organization's prospects. Hoping he does well at the WJC's again. Laba is an excellent prospect--probably again bottom 6 and the same with Lamb if he can make the jump into the pros fairly well.

I also really like Bo Groulx. I liked him in his draft year. If we're out of it later in the season I'd love to see him get a look. He wouldn't be the first guy to carve out a role as a regular at age 25 or older.

I like BMB and while he is getting on the second PP (that group had the two PP goals tonight) I don’t like him playing left wing on the fourth line usually with ECHL players. He looks to me like he is ready to play higher up in the lineup. And I’d like to see him have an opportunity at center.

I haven’t been that high on Sykes but I see some growth in his offensive game. He’ll never be a scorer but you’d like to see him chipping in a little. I see more of that this year which is positive.

I like Chmelar. Physical, good skater for his size and has some offensive game. He’s only shooting less than 8% and I’d expect that to improve over the season. The +\- is odd but leschyschen is at -10 so maybe they were playing together for some games.

Although Roobroeck isn’t scoring at a high rate I like how he handles the puck and uses his body to shield opponents away from the puck. He is a good passer and while I haven’t watched a ton this year when I do he always sets up his linemates for good opportunities. His skating is heavy — he reminds me of Kevin Hayes when he carries the puck. I think he’s having a fine rookie season and interested to see if his game improves over the season.

Domingue was good tonight as the Pack tried to emulate the Rangers in taking three straight penalties in the last ten minutes of the game but the PK and Domingue did a good job in keeping the Bruins from getting many good shots.
