FYI guys this one happened just after the DiGiacinto, Whelan and Giutarri extensions,

Brodzinski's brother, a F, will be 26 in August,
after a full 5 year career at St.Cloud, had been w Pack on a PTO in spring, with 1 GP

Tarmo goes home
Yeah, this seemed like an inevitability, and is likely one of the main reasons they traded him (and why they only received a fellow AHL-rental in return). Anyway, good luck to him. I'm sure he'll have an excellent career there, and probably be even better than he was before.

sorry if already shared, and probably of little interest going forward, but FYI

Letunov, who was acquired for Tarmo, is now a pending UFA (Group 6)
he came to USA at age 16, and Eliteprospects shows no previous activity for him in Russian hockey

recently (late May) his KHL rights were part of a deal,
sent from Lokomotiv Yaroslavl to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod

Pack are flush w veteran non-prospect F's (J.Brodz, Fritz, Digiacinto, Whelan)
and Gettinger, Ronning, and Richards (and Rueschhoeff) all RFAs (all 4 turn 25 next season) ,
so are unlikely to re-sign Letunov, or Merkley (~TDL from SJ for Bitetto)

FYI Pack have introduced a Player Tracker page, link at bottom of post \/ \/ \/
better than the nothing that was there,
but interspersing the NYR and AHL contracts is odd, especially in the upper chart of 'free agents'

some "new news"
page lists 2 additional players on AHL deals

F Ryan Lohin on a '22-23 AHL contract
26 year old LH C, 3 years pro split AHL/ECHL, had been teammate of Wall at UMass-Lowell

D Blake Hillman on a '22-23 AHL contract
26 yr old LH D, 4 years pro split AHL/ECHL, played 3 years at U.Denver

ADDED NOTE: Pack announced the signings today

With RFAs needing to be qualified next week followed by free agency I thought I would take a look at the Rangers/Hartford current rosters to see what we might expect in the next week, particularly as it affects Hartford.

Last year Hartford signed 10 players to AHL contracts: 1 goalie, 3 defensemen and 6 forwards. To date Hartford has signed 8 players, 3 defensemen and 5 forwards. I would expect an AHL goalie signing along the lines of Brassard who played pretty well for Hartford in his three games. Some of these AHL signings will go to Jacksonville to be available for call up during the year.

In looking at the Rangers NHL signings, the team currently has 37 contract: 22 forwards, 12 defensemen and 3 goalies. Normally the Rangers have roughly 48 contracts made up of 26 forwards, 17 defensemen and 5 goalies. The total obviously can go up (to 50) or down and the splits among positions is not a hard and fast rule.

With the 22 NHL forwards, Kappo will be signed bringing the total up to 23 and a second line center would bring the number up to 24. Obviously someone could be moved out in a trade but the Rangers don't have a lot of room for additional free agent signings. That leaves just a couple of spots for RFAs: Gettinger, Ronning, Richards, Reuschhoff. It will be interesting to see on July 11 if one of these RFAs is not qualified and brought back.

There most likely will be two goalie signings, one to back up Shesterkin and one for Hartford. Kinkaid played that latter role this year. Even if Lindbolm plays in NA this year I don't see Hartford going with 2 rookie goalies. If the Rangers want to give Wall one more chance perhaps he gets the final AHL goalie contract to go play in Jacksonville.

What really struck me is that the Rangers only have 12 defensemen signed to NHL contracts and only one RFA, Hajek. These 12 include Lundqvist who might be traded and Nemeth, who Larry Brooks notes in tonight's article, is a buy out candidate. That suggests we likely will see a few free agent defensive signings both for the Rangers and Hartford. The Rangers have signed a few players the team has brought to prospect development camp so once the prospect camp list is released it will be interesting to see if there is any defenseman who looks like a signing candidate.

It should be an interesting week for the future of the Rangers and Hartford.

FYI - ECHL, unlike AHL, has a qualifying/RFA system for its contracted players
Jax has QO'd some guys
Often some guys signed by ECHL affiliate are invited to AHL Camp

among the guys listed below, Girduckus appeared in 6 Pack games last season
NOTE Girduckus has signed w Slovak team HC Presov (C.Martin, AND S.Giles, too) for next season

Guy is 29 and has bounced back and forth between AHL and ECHL, though mostly ECHL (67 ECHL games, 12 AHL games). Always had excellent ECHL numbers, AHL more of a mixed bag, but SSS warning. Posted excellent numbers in the NCAA for Army.

Makes you think they're almost certainly moving on from Wall, at minimum.

Garand
Lindbom
Gahagen

One or two of those will be in the ECHL. They'll probably sign another AHL guy plus an NHL backup. I'm not sure if there's room for Wall. Maybe they keep Huska and have him split time with Garand/Lindbom.

Pack add another 25 yr old F on AHL contract, played at UNO as did Scanlin and the just-drafted D
depth chart sorted by age below

Curious if anyone here would like to take a stab at what our starting 18 will look like to start the year.
I’m learning towards keeping my subscription for the full year.

I’ll try D, F lines too tough. Loos like they have 20 guys going for 13-14 spots. Assuming Jones and Hajek make NYR.

Robertson Lundkvist
Henault Welinski
Scanlin/Tinordi Skinner/Emberson

I can see them dressing Tinordi as a 12th F if things get chippy

Thanks. I had hoped for Skinner. Watched him play the second half of last season and thought he held is own in a terrible squad.
Also I love his shot. Wish he got into position more to use it.
