Was selfishly hoping they would play the Phantoms so I could try and go to a game but this run is great for the young guys and their development

Maybe a stupid question but any chance we see Berard in the playoffs for the Rangers?

He's not at a point where you insert him for his first ever NHL game in round 3 in a year when you're the odds on favorite to win the Cup. That's crazy pressure for a kid barely old enough to get a beer. His NHL training should start in preseason - let's see how he handles himself when almost everyone is sent down in late September and he's out there with a 90% NHL roster.

Pack have released Pekar
2024-05-14 Matej Pekar (F) Hartford DEL Released from SPC

I had hopes for him,
remembering his promise as Sabres 4th rounder a few years back (see THN article below),
and hoping his physical, distracting game might add sandpaper to Pack lineup
But he never earned a regular spot, playing 15 games in Dec/Jan during a stretch of injuries and call-ups, but then only 5 down the stretch

I certainly hope he has earned consideration.
Wait, isn’t this the guy that many wanted to fire during the losing streak?

According to Keegan Jarvis Ben Harpur may be back.

Looks like defenseman Ben Harpur (#5) is with the Wolf Pack in Hershey. He was a full participant in practice Monday, and making the trip is a good sign that he’s healthy. Not sure if he’ll play, but good on Harpur getting back on the ice! #NYR

Didn’t make sense. If there ever was a valid reason for a team to hit a rough patch it was the Pack.
Happily shocked they made the playoffs.
A name I’d throw out there for an assistant position is Matt O’Dette.

From Alex Thomas twitter.

Garand recalled. Lindbolm starts.

Nash out. Trivigno is replacement

Same defensemen so Harpur not in.

Yes I’ve got half an eye on pack game. 1-0 Hershey after 1 with Hershey outshooting Pack 8-3.

Lindbolm has been solid. The Hershey goal came on a terrible defensive play by Trivigno. Trivigno is covering the defenseman who passes to a forward and breaks to the net leaving Trivigno behind. The defenseman gets the puck back and walks in. And Lindbolm is screened. Pack generating little offense.

Pack losing 4-1 after 2 being outshot 20-7. Generating no offense. Gave up 2 PP goals and a fourth goal that might have been goaltender interference (Lindbolm’s stick knocked out of his hand) but no review for goaltender interference in AHL. Stand outs for Pack are … well no one. The one goal on a leschyschen break away.

Pack not really competitive and Garand would not make a big difference.

Shame Lindbum is in net. Pack have no chance to advance anymore. Probably deflated the entire team when they found out Garand was heading to NYR.

To be fair, they didn't have much of a chance even with Garand. Hershey is just way too good.

It would have been nice to see the team compete at full strength, though. Maybe Domingue is just sick, and Garand will be sent back for game 2.

While I would rather have had Garand play Hartford was not going to win the way the team played last night. It was reminiscent of the team's play during the long losing streak. 14 shots on goal the entire game and they had five power plays.

I had the game on although I was focused on the Ranger game. It looked to me like Lindbolm played pretty well. Keegan Jarvis, who covers the Pack and watched the game sent the following tweet:

here's a series of Keegan's tweets
hadn't realized Lindbom left game, replaced by Boyko, due to injury
with NYR off til Wednesday, seems reasonable Garand might be available Saturday at Hershey

Garand was called up to the Rangers on Thursday to replace Domingue as the spare. The twitter post I saw said Domingue was a little banged up.

Garand was returned to Hartford yesterday, so he should play tonight. I didn't watch game 1 as it was at the same time as the Rangers' game, but supposedly Lindbom played pretty well, despite the 6-1 outcome. Hershey is just a really good team. Even at our best, it's a long shot that we beat them.

Hershey is always a handful and since we eliminated the Caps, they got guy like Lapierre, Miroshnichenko, and McIlrath back.

Isn’t Hershey the team that is basically all AHL vets so they tend to crush it every year?

Miroschnichenko embarrasses Robertson and puts one past Garand 2-0 Hershey.
