My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that while the Rangers have an agreement with Maine, Maine is independently run. Maine also has a secondary agreement with the Montreal AHL team in Laval. And I think most of the team is made up of players signed by Maine with no connection either to the Rangers/Hartford or Montreal/Laval. So there are players from both organizations although more from the Rangers. Maine will play the Rangers/Hartford players because it will want to keep the Rangers happy but it's not like the Maine is using Ranger strategies the way Hartford would.

Day had an excellent short time in Maine last year even being selected to the ECHL all star game. So he will get a chance to play but he already proved last year he can play very well at the ECHL level. The bigger issue was after a strong second half of the year last year in Hartford why he wasn't able to take advantage of the chance he got in Hartford at the beginning of the year to build on his game. While I was with Cwede on Day's prospects I am very disappointed in his performance this year. The only question I have is whether his hip injury is affecting his play.
not quite. the basic connection between the three boils down to this, if you take out the Canadiens contract players, that's a short-term agreement, as Montreal likely is looking toward Trois Rivieres, next season (same owner as Newfoundland has now).... the basic agreement between Spectra, the Rangers, and Hartford/Portland, boils down to this: as long as Briere and Drury are retained by the Rangers due to their shared playing history and Drury is not promoted by the Rangers from overseeing the Pack, the affiliation continues.... Spectra also runs the business ops of both the Pack and the Mariners, so unless Spectra is outbid for control of the XL Center, so there's that as well....

Riley is an independent coach, but it's more of a Rangers development approach then it is led to believe, now whether that's Drury's influence from Hartford/MSG, as to how the Hartford contract players operate.

Great to see Rykov finally get into action. He is a very serious prospect and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play at least a few NHL games this year at least if there is an injury call up needed.
Really hoping he can have a Lindgren type impact if he gets called up. The team’s biggest weakness right now is someone on the left side to pair with DeAngelo. Staal is done, Hajek isn’t ready (may not ever be) and while it’s probably where we have the most prospect depth, Miller, Robertson, Jones etc are all 1-2 years away at least and there’s no guarantee any of them will pan out.

personally i think folks here inflate the meaning of a demotion to ECHL
the games had changed in last 5-8 years, that is not the exile it once was

overstatement here i think, he will at least most likely finish out his NYR ELC, that means through next season ...

I mean his time in our organization as an actual prospect. We can't unilaterally terminate a contract for no reason, so of course he'll finish it out.

As far as the ECHL being a death sentence for a prospect, maybe it's not in your first pro season. But beyond that, it really is. For someone like Ronning--22, D+4, second professional season with an AHL affiliate lacking offensive depth, and he can't even get a regular shift.

The amount of forwards and defensemen playing in the ECHL at age 22 in their second professional season who will go onto have an NHL career has to be incredibly small, relative to those who won't. Most of the guys that play in the ECHL that go onto have NHL careers play like a handful of games in the ECHL. Nothing significant. If you're playing 20, 30, 40 games in the ECHL in a year, you're the longest of long shots.

Unfortunately, he's probably going to get less and less chances to move up. Vets will get signed for next season, add potentially Barron and maybe Pajuniemi, the wing spots will be taken up.

That overage season in the OHL got everyone excited, but now we have an influx of prospects and he's just likely to continue to move down and down the list.

I only suggested Europe for him as an option in the future as he's a small, volume shooter. The slower pace, lower physicality, and additional time to shoot would be beneficial to him. Gropp as well, for that matter.

Ebert is pretty solid. He and Raddysh, i could absolutely see both of them getting an NHL game or two if they decide to stay in North America. Neither are really NHL-caliber players, but they're both in that injury call-up area.

Very nice move by Andersson on the goalie 1 on 1. Maybe it'll get him going. Nice move on the backhand

Are you watching the game, or did you see the clip on twitter or something? (if the latter, can you share it?)

4-1 Pack after two periods. Lias 2 goals and an assist. Also a crosscheck penalty that left Connor Carrick going off the ice bleeding for repairs. That was retaliation for Carrick crosschecking Beleskey. Fogarty with a goal and two assists.

I'd feel better about Lias if he was scoring these goals against the worst team in the AHL...
