Both Nieves and Gettinger have decent skills. Nieves has proven he can be a 4th line NHL player. Gettinger's like 21 years old. Way too early to give up on him. Neither of them has to score tons of points in Hartford. They need to work on the kind of roles they can fill at the NHL level. Gettinger will help himself using his size more and becoming a penalty killing specialist. I'm not looking for 20 goals from him this year. He needs some numbers but his road to the NHL is as a bottom 6 guy who does grunt work.

Has he? He's playing in the minors right now. He's never been able to hold onto that 4th line role and by all accounts he's regressed this season in the AHL and is having trouble putting up points.

What Gettinger or any kid in HFD needs to show to get to the next level is impact. They have to show they have the ability to make an impact every shift. For a kid like Gettinger, you want to see him a) use the size and reach to consistently make a difference in the D zone. Just make it impossible for point shots. And be very aware defensively. In the neutral and offensive zones, you want to see him getting in on the forecheck, causing turnovers, creating significant pressure and be a beast along the walls. Just dogging the puck everywhere. Just blowing up the D's ability to make a good first pass.

In a nutshell, what you want to see from MOST of the Wolfpack players is this tenacious, unyielding, fast forecheck. Just creating constant pressure and havoc for the other team. Cause none of them (outside of Chytil) have enough offensive skill to play differently. They should all be modeling their games after Fast, or say, Blake Lizotte/Kings or Max Jones/Ducks.

That said, the effectiveness of that game comes down to skating (not just straight line, but agility). The reason McKegg, Andersson and Fast are with the Rangers and most HFD guys won't be is agility/aggressiveness/hand quickness on the forecheck and in defending.

Starting off where they left off Chytil and his line all over the Sound Tigers here in the first half of the first period but still no score. 2 posts hit already for the Pack

Wow miserable turnover by Fogarty In his end threw it right into the slot and Bridgeport rips one by Huska nothing he can do about that. Terrible terrible turnover

Keane is everywhere in this first period. Some dazzling stickhandling and skating. Not able to get pucks thru though

Great job by Lindgren on this early 2nd period penalty kill. Blocking shots big hit to separate and clear the puck. He’s very polished this year

Man Lettieri really is dumb. Even at this level he’s just terrible. I don’t know how he puts up points

PP goal for the Pack funny one Chytil to Lettieri to Keane shot went wide came off the boards and off The goalie and in.

Keane gets his 4th

was a nice set up though lol

Skarek is the Sound Tiger goalie pretty highly touted kid. Great first half to this game but two funky ones

jones gets an assist on Gettinger’s goal. His first of the year

Oh man ORegan now beats Skarek short side off a nice effort by Fontaine 4-1. Great shot over the glove

4-1 now. too bad Kravtsov didn't work out here in Hartford. Would have been exciting to see him contributing to a winning team (finally)
