This is dumb.

Thing is that we should compare what Lias did in in SuperElit, SHL, AHL and WJC in comparison to what others have done in the same Leagues at the same age, and when doing that he is right up there. He's a really good prospect and your logic is very flawed.

Resorting to insults is not required. If he was such a good prospect he’d be in the NHL right now on a completely terrible forward group. He’s not and he remains buried in Hartford sulking and looking over marched. All you die hard supporters of this guy are just dreaming of what you want to think is possible.

Maybe this analogy will help— imagine racing against cars of similar speeds. At that level, it’s about how good the driver is because everyone is going at the same speed. Now imagine taking that same car and entering a race with cars faster than you. You still think you’ll win that race? Be competitive?

You can’t ignore skill set because his skills were good enough to put up good numbers at lower levels. To do so, is to completely disregard the progression of talent it takes to even be competitive at higher levels.

I could care less what Lias did against bad competition— he’s done nothing, if not regress this season, and being a young player who does not seem hungry is not a recipe for success.

I do think he's sulking. I believe I was the first person to throw that out there. You shouldn't accept it as the gospel truth, though.

He does not look overmatched, however. He wasn't overmatched in a better league (the SHL) last season, nor was he overmatched when he came over as a teen to play in the AHL and thrived. He was strong to start the year with 12 points in 14 games, and while his NHL stint wasn't great, he didn't look out of place.

I understand your points but I disagree that he's overmatched. Not engaged, sure. But it's not a talent issue.

see following

on Twitter this weekend ManUTobbe wrote that maybe Ronning had returned to the Mariners' roster.

From what I can find, I do not believe that actually occurred.
I do not find any evidence yet that Ronning has been (re)activated, since being placed on Reserve on Jan 26th.

I only know what i find online.
Anyone have anything to add?

Tobias Pettersson @ManUtdTobbe
Anyone know why Ty Ronning hasn’t played a game in forever? Guessing he’s injured but haven’t seen any confirmation

Tobias Pettersson @ManUtdTobbe
Nevermind, he’s playing today it seems

Tobias Pettersson @ManUtdTobbe
I saw him on the stats page yesterday

I see possible source of the contradictions
At the ECHL GameCenter of the 2 weekend games,
the "STATS" tabs DO display Ronning's name (with no earned stats),
while the "ROSTERS" tabs do NOT.
The "GAME SHEET" pages (... lscluster.hockeytech ... ) also do not list Ronning

Friday
ROSTERS Game Center
STATS Game Center
Gamesheet: Greenville at Maine - Feb 9, 2019

Saturday
ROSTERS Game Center
STATS Game Center
Gamesheet: Wheeling at Maine - Feb 10, 2019

I do not find record, at ECHL site Transactions posts, of Ronning being added/activated by Maine
ECHL Transactions - Feb. 10
ECHL Transactions - Feb. 9
ECHL Transactions - Feb. 8
ECHL Transactions - Feb. 7

Yeah @cwede I think you're right. I jumped into that conversation earlier and noted that I had not seen him come off reserve, and he's still at 22 games played. I don't even know why he's on it.

One thing about Andersson is that he is young. All these guys are. Not everyone is going to take demotion well. You have to wonder if he believed he was getting the call next and Nieves got it, then Lettieri got it. Howden got hurt, still no call up. Post draft he was touted as being "near NHL ready" and we're almost 2 years in and he can't crack the roster.

He's going to be on the team in a few weeks, Hayes gone, and who knows where Howden will be at that point. Chytil has been playing wing. Strome and Names can play wing. I'd put solid money Lias is up at the deadline and playing. If he still looks this way, then it's something in his head.

well, Nell is still on a NYR contract

They burried his azz with ECHL Greenville (10W-14L-2SOL), who aren't even the affiliate of the NYR... Maine (who is the NYR/Pack affiliate) has 3 goalies (Lacouvee, Minney and Toivonen), none of which are NYR/Pack property.

I wouldn’t count on this as a given. As you mentioned the Rangers already have a number of guys who could be shifted to C. Also, recent reports out of Hartford make it pretty clear that if he was called up it wouldn’t be based on merit.

maybe Ronning is healthy now
