Feel like Hall should get some sort of award this season....what he has done does the Devils is pretty amazing.

If Avs miss the playoffs, it means Kings are in. Kopitar deserves the Hart at that point. He's been carrying that team,

I got called a f***ing moron by some dumbass Oiler fan on facebook for suggesting that McDavid doesn't deserve the Hart.
He was a goddamn simpleton.

Doesn't understand that the Oilers season has no value with or without McDavid, thus the Hart shouldn't apply to him.
I hope more of my fellow Oiler fans see that.

This is my prediction.

1. MacK (Drops to 3rd if the Avs miss the playoffs)
2. Kopitar
3. Kucherov
4. Malkin
5. McDavid
6. Giroux
7. Hall

If avs miss playoffs you would have Mackinnon Over Mcdavid????

1. Hall
2. Kopitar
3. Mcdavid

It will be either hall or kopitar who takes home the hardware

A season like this one is proof that the Hart Trophy is overrated in terms of using it to rate the greatness of players. Media voted with unwritten rules to eliminate players from contention.

The line between MacKinnon and Kopitar winning might be down to their team finishing 1 point ahead or behind.

Kucherov, Malkin, or Giroux could win depending on the media deciding to ignore their teamates as part of the unsaid formula.

Are Rocket race players considered when all of the Art Ross players are arbitrarily eliminated? Ov, Laine, Karlsson, or Stall?

Perhaps the Linsey/Lester B. Pearson Award is a more important Trophy.

Kopitar has a equally as good case

Carter has missed 75% of the season. Kings would be dead last without Kopitar too.

King's have had better goaltending all season. Quick/Kuemper have been playing solid all season compared to the duo of Cory/Kinkaid that we have had who have been a roller coaster of up and downs.

Also throw in that our "starter" Cory has lost his last 11 games and doesn't have a win since December 27th lol

I think MacKinnon, Kopitar and Hall are the best candidates. Assuming all three get to the playoffs.

I think Kopitar has a strong narrative going right now. He's dominating offensively and defensively and is so far ahead of everyone on his team in both categories.

I'd probably go:

Kopitar
McDavid
Mackinnon

Oilers fan also stating mcdavid should not get the hart. Yes the art Ross and Lindsay should be his. He is the best player in the world.

The award should go to either hall, kopitar or mackinnon depending how the season ends.

Hall is turning it on when it matters and getting his team into the playoffs, Kop is doing pretty good also I feel Mack is dropping the ball right now

Hoping Mackinnon pulls it off. Plus I want to see him in the playoffs again.

Kopitar winning would be great though just for what it would do to captain intangibles legacy.

I think after this season it's become clear that Kopitar > Toews.

Ur gonna randomly bring up goalies and say the guy that’s gonna probably win the selke is at fault for his team getting scored on less ? Okay

Giroux doesn't even sniff the Hart trophy with guys like Hall, MacK, Kucherov,McDavid, Marchand
I don't really understand this. If the award should go to a player that carried his team to the playoffs that applies to Giroux though to a lesser extent than Hall or MacK but then Kucherov and McDavid shouldn't be considered. If it's strictly about numbers then McDavid and Kuch should be on top but Giroux should be above Hall. Giroux has 3 less points than Kucherov while playing on a team that has 40 less goals. Giroux has had a point on 40% of his teams goals and I believe McDavid is the only player with a higher percentage.

I get both sides but it seems silly that someone that meets both criteria shouldn't also be included. If people want pure production then McDavid or Kuch should win. If people want someone that's dragging their team into the playoffs then Hall or MacK should win. Is there no room for someone who has the raw production of a top 3 scorer and is also the main reason their team is in the playoff picture?

I'm not randomly bringing up goalies, our goalies have sucked the majority of the season and Hall has been the reason why we win in spite of our mediocre to awful goaltending that we have had. Our starter who is being paid millions has lost 11 straight games and hasn't won a game in 2018 lol

Kopitar has better goaltending behind him. Your backup has better stats than either of our goalies, hell he has only 7 less wins than Cory lol

It won't be Hall and I really don't understand why people think it might be. When was the last time a forward won the Hart while not finishing in the top 3 in scoring? Has anyone ever won outside of the top 5? Maybe he deserves it but people need to understand how the voters vote.

I feel like we have like 20 threads about the hart trophy

Very hard to keep up
It is hard to keep up I wish we could have a thread for individual trophies though right now they all seem to be smudged together.
Which seem to drift off topic so easily.
Personally I vote the mods makes stickies for the different trophy/awards and snuff out all the random confusion that keep popping up on the mains. Would probably make their jobs easier and keep things a bit more organized.

Throw up a mod warning in the first post and give out thread bans for derailing the thread. There are more of us that enjoy the discussion then there is poster trying to drive the discussion into the ditch.

I’m an oilers fan but I doubt goaltending goes into the vote for hart unless it’s a goalie winning it . Hall / Kopitar are my bets for hart anyways depending on who makes the playoffs.

I just don’t know why u would put goals against in an argument for hall he’s not exactly a defensive specialist

I brought it up because the Kings defense and goalies are better than the Devils. The Devils aren't getting much help at all from their goaltending, they only have 2 shutouts as opposed to 8 that the Kings have.

Hall really is the only reason this team is winning so many games. He's forcing this team to win despite mediocre defense and goaltending.

Anze Kopitar for HART.
Neither is a bad answer, but I think I gotta give my vote to Kopitar if it isn't MacKinnon. Kucherov is an amazing player and should win some scoring titles if it wasn't for McDavid just exploding out of nowhere. But seeing the Kings come in and Kopitar absolutely rip us apart was like nothing I've ever seen before in this entire season. That was truly unbelievable to watch and factor in how good his defencive game is as well, makes it an easy choice for me to give him the most valuable player award. Without Anze this season, Kings are at Oilers level. Without Kucherov, Tampa Bay still finds a way to make the playoffs.

Heres why:

Oilers without McDavid - bottom 5
Oilers with McDavid - bottom 10

Devils without Hall - bottom 5
Devils with Hall - playoff team

Kings without Kopitar - bottom 10
Kings with Kopitar - possible playoff team

Avalanche without MacKinnon - bottom 10
Avalanche with MacKinnon - possible playoff team

And so it continues

Thats why IMO. MVP isnt just best on their team - it also matters how big of an influence they have on their teams end position in the standings

Thats why Hall deserves it IMO. Largest point gap (36 up on Hischier), probably breaks 90, and carried his team to first playoff birth in five years.
So when NJ and Colorado are eliminated, MacK and Hall come out of contention, right? Since their teams didn't make it either? And no,the award doesn't say anything about dragging your team into the playoffs or standings. It simply states most valuable to their team. By your own thinking, NJ is still crap without Hall, and the Kings are still crap without Kopitar, just like the Oilers are still crap without McDavid.

For me it's Mackinnon or Hall, in that order provided at least one of them makes the playoffs.

If both miss, I really have no idea who to vote for.
