Post-Game Talk: Harkins appreciation night

So that Sharks pick, Pens will probably pick between 10-15 anyway and boy do we need that pick for a team like this. To see Dubas give that away to allow this coach to make everything he's done look like shit, you wonder if he's brave enough to fire Sullivan or does he keep him because he has no choice thanks to FSG.

We should just watch the Wbs team now.

Malkin has 41pts in 49 games.

The wingers he's been tried with the most:

Smith - 21pts in 43 games
Rakell - 18pts in 37 games
Doc - 15pts in 49 games

Sid? He has 52pts, Jake has 51. Rust has 29pts in 36 games.

But yeah, sure, "Sid is notoriously hard to find linemates that think the game like him"....

The f***ing guy was incredible with Kunitz and Dupuis. So why would it be hard to just put Smith with him for a few games and drop Jake down for a few? Are Sid's stats more important than wins?

And now Carter is back at C. Puljujarvi is on his RW. White and Harkins are on the 4th line and have 0 goals. Also I think it was gleaned over on but Malkin having a maintenance day before the Wild game wouldn't shock me if he's playing hurt. Which I mean if your player is hurt and you're still forcing him to play C....
It's inexplicable. Could have two strong lines if he moves guentzel to Malkin. Fifty games in and he hasn't even tried it.

Pretty much have to win next 6 in a row after losing last 2 games. 5 of 6 at home. Road game at CHI and games against NYI and PHI.

Back under 50% to make the POs at 46%. That honestly seems high.

I could have guessed we'd be here before the season started but I never would have guessed it was because we were a non-scorning snooze fest. I figured we'd be all in on O and struggle to keep the puck out of the net. Great jot Sully!

It's just a funny narrative. That ok, we all like Crosby, consistent and a good leader, elite skill etc. But the thing is if he's playing well and isn't having trouble producing, then why not drop Guentzel down to Malkin's line for a week and throw Smith with Crosby and Rust. You'd essentially have a "version" of Kunitz, Crosby, Dupuis right there.

Then you go - Guentzel, Malkin, Rakell.

The 3rd and 4th line, well the 4th line specifically is a mess because Harkins and White are there and if anyone wants to be honest with themselves, Lars Eller should be the 4C. But then this team has no 3C again, Lars is who Dubas brought in based on how Sullivan liked to murder his 3C with the worst usage imaginable, Lars is Sully proof, but then it's the issue of Sullivan basically using the 3C like a 4C that's the main problem to begin with.

So what you're saying is there's no chance, lol.

Yea, I'm giving up hope. I've always been a die hard and hopeful, even during the 02-04 years, but this team just isn't fun to watch anymore. Too much vanilla. 5,11 190 lb top 6 forwards and no physical presence on D minus Ludvig. Pettersson tries but I carried his weight in high school at 5'9. I'd love to see a Bogosian type or two on this D. Kunitz, Asham and Engelland are favs of mine, just their hard nosed style of play. It's hard watching the current style. Zucker was the heart and sole of this team. Crosby attempts to light a fire but he can't carry the team like he used to, nothing against him, he is a top 5 all time. Coaching blows. /end rant.

Good thing Dubas catered to Sully this past summer. Dubas sucks too. I highly doubt FSG told him he could not fire Reirden or he was only allowed to sign garbage players.

The Penguins losing a one goal game because their power play is a disaster? At this point deja vu doesn't even begin to describe it, it's more like Groundhog Day: Penguin Edition.

Many have mentioned the sequence with Geno holding the puck at the end but I would like to give another telling example of why the Penguins score so few goals - 5:20 left in the third, the dying seconds of a power play. Rakell shoots a weak, telegraphed one-timer from the blue line with absolutely no traffic. I know the old adage is that it's never a bad play to put the puck on net but like many old adages it's not exactly a universal recipe for success, to put it mildly. The Penguins tend to either go for shots like the above that any NHL goalie can save in his sleep or tick-tack-toe plays that make for highlight reel goals when they work but work very, very rarely.

Helleyback is a great goalie, don't get me wrong, he might well have allowed only one even if the Pens tried something different but they barely made him sweat. And this happens way too often. The second power play unit seemed to think Eller was the trigger-man and he couldn't even put more than one shot on net. Sid and Geno have a combined zero shots on goal on the PP and one overall.

EK65 finally showing flashes of what made him a superstar but it doesn't matter because our team can't score in a brothel. Experience Sullivan hockey.

P.S. That feeling when you see a guy from your team on semi-breakaway, get excited only to hear to the name Harkins and realize immediately that there will be no goal. Priceless.

So is that Sid's fault and not Sully?
Mario Got Zubov Traded because Mario didn't like How he played on the PP & didn't like him personally! & goit Kevin Hatcher in return & Jagr's Pissboy was Kip Miller & the 1st thing The Craps did when trading for Jagr was sign Miller

I've come to accept Sullivan won't be fired, ever. So instead I just avoid watching as much as possible and hope when I check the boxscores that Sid or Geno scored to add to their career totals.

Because honestly that's the only thing we have to look forward to now. This team's going nowhere with idiot Mike behind the bench, and the organization is too infatuated with him to see he's a massive problem.

that’s not what DK says…none of this is Sullivan’s fault…just ask him lol

Malkin is awful according to Yohe
Yep, the main problem is Geno according to our media lol

Huh that’s weird. I remember last year he actually started to criticize Sullivan a little bit here and there.

If you listen to any of his podcasts, he defends Sullivan so hard you would think he was his agent or getting a kickback when his new contract kicks in lol
