All it means is no one wanted to be on the hook for $2.35M next year.
Flyers can reduce it by $1M if they wish by burying him, or pick up $1M of his next year salary to move him.

People get too hyped up over minor moves.

Dead, all people want with Weise waived, is for him not to play and for NAK to get in 30ish games. And the hope is that next year, NAK can be a good 4th liner.

No one thinks it's anything more.

The AHL players haven't been promoted because they haven't done enough to make a promotion a "no brainer."

That is, Fletcher probably sees no urgency because no one, including Myers, has done enough this season that they're wasting their time in the AHL. Compare to Sanheim last year when he was sent down, or Lindblom once he adjusted to NA hockey. To me, they're all a bit disappointing, I expected Myers to play as well as Sanheim, for Vorobyev to take his game up a notch, for NAK to show more offensive skills, etc. Doesn't mean they're flops, but they're still "under development."

Just because fans want to see them, Fletcher has more important issues, like extracting maximum value for the players currently on the roster.

Weise is a good example, waiver is a way of dumping salary, now Fletcher knows he can bury Weise and save a million, or pay a million or so to move him in a trade.
It doesn't mean Weise has zero value, rather, rebuilding teams don't want a 30 year old forward with a $2.35M cap hit in 2019-20, and playoff teams may simply not have the cap room to justify such a move. But they might want him as depth if he only costs a little more than the veteran minimum.
So now Fletcher knows his negotiating parameters.

Folin would not clear waivers because he's making close to the veteran minimum and is serviceable depth.
MacDonald will easily clear waivers, as would Lehtera.

Knew it was too good to be true.

This must've just been about roster room for when goalies get healthy and Morin is ready. The unintentional tank is still on.

f***ing beyond lame. Jesus... What's the f***ing point? Send him down and bring up someone younger and better...

This is why I have no faith in Myers being brought up this year. Our f***ing club will try to use Farmer and Folin as much as possible before anyone else.

Yeah...just gives them flexibility vs having to send Hart down. Worth noting that theoretically we can trade him with retained salary so a team can stash him in the AHL "for free" now.

If they just wanted flexibility, they could have waived Lehtera who up till Monday hadn't play a second under Gordon.

At one point Ghost wasn't worthy of a call up but look what happened when he did, I'm talking about his rookie year not this year. Lol. I personally think they don't want anymore early twenties dmen (20,21,22) in the lineup at one time

It's been clear for years that the Flyers don't know how to integrate young players. Somehow the team that has had the worst dregs in the league can't get any utility out of a strong farm system. Every year we see it, guys who Hakstol gave huge minutes and playoff appearances to can't play for other NHL teams.

The Flyers did a remarkable job of de-valuing Sam Morin, who went from prized prospect to "Is he even a No. 6 in the NHL?" It'll be quite exciting next year when we have Frost ready to join both of our skilled Russian centers, with all of them stuck behind Phil Varone and Corban Knight. Maybe Hogberg joins Myers and Friedman as they bide their time waiting for MacDonald's contract to expire. At least they'll get to watch Hagg rack up the hits.

Overreaction much?

Nothing much is going to happen until after the Allstar break, when bodies will start moving by mid-February.
At that point the callups begin en masse.
Right now there's no urgency, it's not like the team is going anywhere.
