I used any bag I could when I was in that god awful boot for my ankle. I would wrap my foot in whatever plastic bag/trash bag I could find then slip another sock over it before strapping up the boot. Worked like a charm.
We used actual leg warmers over top of our boots in the 80s. They were fantastic for keeping the snow out when shoveling a foot or more of snow with huge drifts.

Our region had a contest to name the plows, here are the winners - bear in mind that Kitchener (one of the cities in the region) was original Berlin and we are home to the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world.

Pensacola is supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow :help:
Prices will be going up since I'm guessing crops will be suffering. I'm just enjoying a regular winter for the first time in years. I guess the Polar Vortex wanted to make a statement this year.

I bought fresh Ontario strawberries this morning - they are finally getting a handle on growing them in greenhouses. They are tiny but I prefer them over the big, waxy ones that come from the US at this time of year.

A true New Englander. I love this even if you’re a bit crazy.

No snow here but it’s a balmy 17 degrees. We are supposed to get up to a half inch tonight.
My In Laws are in Houston (though relocated from New York decades ago for college) so my wife grew up there. Our first winter in the house she took a picture of my shoveling the driveway in barely tied Tims, gym shorts, and a sweatshirt, and sent it to every relative she has. The reactions were pretty funny, if I do say so myself.

Bluesky is rapidly gaining followers today - great to see. Give it a shot, there is power in numbers.

Why anyone would want to give Musk any kind of support is beyond me. This isn't political, it is about being a decent human being. If you are okay with Nazi salutes, there is something wrong.
