I've shared this here before but I was reminded of it again tonight and it never fails to make me laugh until I cry. For years I only knew the audio existed but then I found this lip sync video version a couple years ago and it's even funnier

HDMI cable wasn’t long enough to run through the wall. It’s on order. I am pleased

Newton, MA.
I discovered this charmer back in 2001 whilst visiting my brother Bob and his wife Sara in Montpelier, Vermont, where they lived at the time.

Montpelier has the happy luck to receive Montreal's CBC station. In French, of course.

Don't worry, English speaking North Americans; author Roch Carrier narrates en Anglais.

Curl up beside the fire with your favorite (adult) beverage and be a kid again.

Joyeux Noel,

Love it! I may be looking to do something similar on my tv wall in the new year but it depends on what type of couch/chairs I go with.
Thanks Ali! I wish the console under the tv was a little wider, and i wish the electrician didn’t put the tv outlet so freaking high. The tv had to be mounted slightly higher than i prefer because i needed to cover the new outlet. But overall, I’m happy with the look. It’s all ikea hemnes pieces we found here and there on Facebook. Picked it all up as college kids left town earlier this year

Thats a great setup. I got the same bottom Ikea piece, just in black, in my living room. My wife would love to flank it & the TV with book shelves like you have but the wall is slightly too short so we just have one. Plus if it did fit, I'd have to move a dog bed, and Sherman would be lost. Hes worst with changes them I am haha.

Oh even just one shelf to the side, with a tv stand is still a sharp layout! It all depends on the space too of course. Plus like you said, the pup has already claimed the other side!

I’m not a big IKEA guy, but this particular product line is pretty solid. I just wish they sold their paint colors so i could get a jar and do some touch ups

Good call on the furniture. I only have to buy one bookshelf on Amazon so it will only be about $100 to complete the wall.

My brother in law is going to mount my tv for me so I won't have to worry about it being too high thankfully.

It's snowing here! Supposed to get a whopping 1/4 inch lol.

On the way home a whole herd of deer ran out in front of me. Looked a lot like this video although thankfully no deer landed on my car

Ya I am legit a fan of IKEA. They have like 3 or 4 'levels' of everything. The borderline cardboard cheapest of cheap, the particle board not so sturdy stuff, and then 'real pine wood' (probably not exactly) that is sturdy, heavy, and reliable. That's the level of that stuff from what I can see.

All of our dressers (and we have a few), nightstands (4), entertainment system (1), coffee table (1), my desk, book shelves (2), and some other random stuff like our now laundry room table are all that level of IKEA. Some have moved multiple times and it's always held together well.

Plus I love Legos and I consider IKEA adult Legos, not that Legos aren't for adults too.

Legos you say?!

I built the ECTO-1 recently. Really cool and different build. I loved every page. I didn’t put the “rust” stickers on though, because i wanted it to look like the original and not the modern era version.

I’ll be picking up the Jaws set soon. Perhaps the NES set too. I wanna put framed movie posters up in my office and add the Lego builds on a shelf underneath each poster.

Love Legos. My Ex got me the Saturn 5 set years ago, took me a few hours over a couple sessions to put together. I still have it on the top of the small book shelf in my office, and when I forget my camera background its almost always a conversation piece.

As a kid (38 now) I had all the Pirate sets and the Ninja sets, among some other standard randoms (mostly city). I was also a collecting dork even then so I kept all the instruction books. They were setup in an old back area of my childhood room for years. When my mom & step dad moved out of the house a few years ago I went over and broke the sets down into various (individual) Rubbermaid containers with the books I could find. Could probably eBay them for a pretty penny but I'd rather hold onto them and give them to my eventual kid (IE, play with them myself while they watch from a safe distance).

Some sets are randomly valuable. I think you need the box though. We had a couple sets we purchased a few years ago that the kids never got to and just sold them for 2-3x what we paid.

We still have piles of boxes and manuals. Harry Potter trains and castles still assembled. Giant dinosaurs and police stations.

The big ones my boys still have to finish are a Lambo, a huge Ninjago Pterodactyl, and a big Ninjago house

I highly recommend the “adult” sets. It sounds so lame but it’s really cool to see how some of the pieces are used. They go against their own unwritten rules at times. Things you definitely didn’t do when you were 10, but now suddenly it’s “wow, how did i never think of that?”

That's awesome, Legos are one of the few toys I'll be hoping my (eventual / hopeful) kid(s) will be into. We're in the process of trying to get the first one, got married in June and wanted to wait to start until after the honeymoon (went in Oct) so she could enjoy the Greek wines with me.

Amazing. Best of luck to you both!

The last time I tried to put a Lego set together was about ten years ago and I felt like I needed a masters degree in engineering lol

Just looking to set the record straight on a couple of key points:

• All versions of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” suck.

• There are really only handful of decent Christmas songs, period. Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses is great. The classics like The Chipmunk Song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reimdeer, and the original Frosty the Snowman are up there as well. Do You Hear What I Hear by Bing Crosby brings tears to my eyes. I could do without the never ending parade of shitty covers. Tom Petty’s Christmas All Over is kinda quirky and I like it.

• There are even fewer decent Christmas movies. Home Alone is the best. It’s a great movie. If you count Die Hard, which you should, that’s up there as well as Rocky 4. Jingle All the Way is schlock, but I’ll give it a watch every year. If we were delving into the world of animation, the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas is the best.

This right here. There is no amount of rewriting that will make this song remotely ok. Anytime I hear the melody I instantly cringe.

Kelly Clarkson has a couple great Christmas jams, and Zooey Deschanel singing baby it’s cold outside from the movie Elf is solid too. It helps that she’s a total babe, however, no babe threads.

Home Alone is a classic. For more modern Christmas movies I like Love Actually, even if the Christmas Spirit takes a back seat to literally everything else going on.

For modern Christmas songs, I submit:

Kelly Clarkson and Chris Stapleton's duet, Glow is my favorite modern day Christmas song. I also like her upbeat song with Arianna Grande. Her whole Christmas album is great.

Carrie Underwood's My Gift is solid for anyone who is looking for more traditional songs. Favorite Time of Year is her submission into the Mariah Carey Christmas realm.

For a catchy, obscure and certainly non traditional song, Cher's DJ Play A Christmas Song is my top choice.

I wish someone would do a recording of Oh Come All Ye Faithful in Latin/English. I grew up singing it in latin because I had old school music teachers in elementary school plus that is what we sung in church choir. When sung well, it is incredibly moving.
