Wally is our communal dad

He even disciplines me on occasion

Depends on the car make. Ive gotten as short as 1 year and as long as almost 3 years.
But I always change both when I do it. I want to know the spare is always good too.
I always change mine annually, at the same time I replace the engine coolant. Except now my brother (mechanic) tells me that the engine coolant in mine and the missus' cars can last 100k miles. The coolant is easy to remember because I do that when I'm doing springtime oil changes, but not sure how I'll remember the FOB battery now . . .

When the mammographer came back & told me the results I was so relieved I thought I would throw up.

Thank you for your support! I hope you're doing better, miss you in the GDTs!

When I saw your post, I felt relief for you. I wanted to give you the biggest hug. It was good news like that, I needed to hear.

I'm doing okay. Grief is a heck of a thing. I'm trying to decorate for Christmas. Haven't put up the tree yet.

We got her ashes back last week and that set me on a spiral. But I'm glad she's "home".

I know some might say she was "just" a dog. But almost 15 years of my life was with her. I feel lost. The past year has been filled with loss. Between my other dog, my uncle, my cat, and now my last dog..it's just...a lot.

I'm wishing everyone on here good health and happiness this season.

I definitely have a love hate relationship with car technology. After a year I'm only just now getting comfortable with having just a fob as opposed to a key. Not looking forward to battery issues with it.

While I love being able to play music from my phone in my car, sometimes it won't connect and I have to reboot, and it's just a hassle. CDs never let me down, I'm just saying.

Heated seats and heated steering wheels can stay.
My car was one of the few left (2023 Crosstrek) that had a CD player...Love it

Having to switch home owners insurance to Mass Fair, and they are requiring a full inspection inside and out. Not the home we live in, one of our rentals.

We have nothing to hide here, and the house was completely renovated about 7 years ago all new wiring/plumbing/flooring/windows/etc

Still, seems like an excuse to get an adjuster into the home so they can f*** us onthe premium.

Anyone go through one of these?

Beems? Any advice? @BMC

I think that inspection and appraising is a corrupt business for commercial and residential all across the nation.

In terms of car tech advancements that I absolutely hate, put the touch screen becoming the center console at the top of the list. Putting an indistinguishable flat screen in place of tactile buttons a drive can press without taking their eyes of the road is wild. Hopefully we revert at some point, but we probably wont.

A few years ago my mom insurance told her they were cancelling unless she either had the house completely scraped and painted or did vinyl siding

I was chatting with a student who recently watched the Back to the Future trilogy for the first time. I had to explain to him what it was like being a kid when the 2nd film came out, and to see what the world in 2015 was projected to look like in 1989.

It’s amazing how they got right, and what they did not.

What’s incredible to me is the amount of on demand entertainment in the form of video and music streaming.

My parents owned a decent sized record collection and had some albums on cassette tape. Terrestrial radio played more or less the same songs on repeat. When I was in middle school, I began purchasing my own CDs, but owned very few.

Eventually, I bought an iPod and *acquired* about 2,500 songs. When I got the FM transmitter to enable playing the iPod through my car stereo, it was a complete game changer.

Today, virtually any song can be played immediately through streaming on youtube, Apple Music, Spotify, or satellite radio. The cost is minimal compared to the old days of buying albums and being limited to the tracks they contained.

This is a very big deal.

My hair is almost to my waist and my wife trims the ends from time to time, but other than that it has been decades.
I had hair to my waist for years but even though it grows fast still it is so much thinner, so it is shorter now.

This isn't unusual. The past 4-5 years inspections have spiked as companies want to make sure the properties they're insuring are being maintained properly. Special attention is paid to roofs and the mechanicals- electrical, heating, plumbing, AC etc. They'll also look for potential liability hazards. The idea is to reduce the number of potential claims either by corrective action or if it's bad enough getting off the risk entirely.

Since everything was done a short time ago you should not encounter any problems.

Thank you very much! This is what i was hoping, and feels better coming from someone who knows their shit

Ya I am legit a fan of IKEA. They have like 3 or 4 'levels' of everything. The borderline cardboard cheapest of cheap, the particle board not so sturdy stuff, and then 'real pine wood' (probably not exactly) that is sturdy, heavy, and reliable. That's the level of that stuff from what I can see.

All of our dressers (and we have a few), nightstands (4), entertainment system (1), coffee table (1), my desk, book shelves (2), and some other random stuff like our now laundry room table are all that level of IKEA. Some have moved multiple times and it's always held together well.

Plus I love Legos and I consider IKEA adult Legos, not that Legos aren't for adults too.
Their Ladda rechargable batteries are rebranded Panasonic Eneloop batteries from Japan, which are probably the best rechargeable batteries money can buy. I think people have caught on though because the AA batteries are always out of stock at our local store

Hattie delivered Reese's cookies to our neighbor. I think they turned out well.

But holy cow, this oven stinks to high heaven when it's turned on
