Thus far, it is indeed, lasting a lifetime.

Can you ever say something nice about the 1994 championship?? I know everybody wants to bury it with a brand spanking shiny new one, nobody more than me, but 1994 is Infamous, nothing like that time if you were Ranger fan, admit it !!! ;)

I was in Ocean City Maryland, 20 years old vacationing surrounded by my best friends and many beautiful ladies, I couldn't have asked for a better circumstance, I was the only real Ranger fan there. The three buddies I was with where devils, Avalanche and Red wing fans. Those teams went on to win the next 3 cups after that !

When we won That night I hit the Ocean City Boardwalk, no longer sober, walked the whole damn thing for hours high-fiving probably a thousand people give hugs to a many people too, only saw one other guy with the Ranger Jersey, soon as we saw each other we ran up to each other and hugged! That night I was everybody's best friend.

The rest of the summer was pretty much a blur one of the best Summers of my life and also one of the hottest, we got a lot of hundred degree days especially right after the Cup.

I made it back into New York City days later everybody was still in Rangers gear everywhere still high-fiving each other. The Rangers just came out of the finals, the Knicks were in the finals, the World Cup of soccer was at Giants stadium Ireland versus Italy, the gay games(The Gay Olympics), were held in New York City and the events garnered 10,000 athletes, more than the Summer Olympics - the City was packed and the energy was palpable !

Happy Anniversary Ranger Fans !

Saw some games live that year, including Game 6 of the Devils. Saw Game 7 of Finals across the street at Blarney Stone. What an absolute crazy night.
I was at Game 6 of the ECF, too. I also went the Garden when the Rangers were in Vancouver and watched the game on the Jumbotron. They played the organ and sold food/drink, cleaned the ice between periods.

Game 6. My buddy and I are at the game, eating and drinking, Think it was Lemieux who scored the second Devs goal in the 1st . Ranger fans go deathly quiet. Between periods our wings and beer arrive. 10 minutes into the 2nd the Devs are absolutely smothering the Rangers. We looked at each other and realized that we needed to make a sacrifice to the hockey gods (to this day, the only time that I have dared to go there). We pushed our food and beer away. Gave up drinking for the rest of the game. We sacrificed our victuals. Less than 10 minutes later, Kovalev scores. The rest is history.

Lesson here? Be very careful regarding the hockey gods.

The change in tenor in the Arena was palpable. It got so quiet, so quickly. Even before the Rangers took the lead.

Best sports moment of my life. The image of Messier (already a 5-time Cup winner with Edmonton) shaking with joy and excitement as he first took the Cup from Bettman will forever be etched in my mind.

I remember yelling “SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT” when that puck was on Leetch’s stick. Seemed like an eternity.

Watched every sec of the post game in a bar that hours prior was PACKED. I sat there in the middle of a giant banquet room in one chair watching on big screen and crying.

During your 5 hours of sleep?

Had a terrifying thought this year - my Dad was my current age when they won it all.

I was thinking about that too. My Dad was 47, I'm 45 now.

My father had been a fan so long, he totally dropped hockey once they won the Cup. He's watched a game here and there since then, but from being his favorite pastime to never caring about them again. "Now I can die in peace" was more than just a banner.

Be happy today, folks. Some will say "move on" but that's a load of shit.

I do hazily remember '94 but I was just too young to appreciate it. That said, I'll never ever forget 2/3/08, 11/4/09, or 6/1/19.

Don't ever forget 6/14/94. Even if it does last a lifetime.

So glad it was on Leetch's stick and he was patient with it! Had it been Ray Bourque he would've whiffed, or shot the puck into the stands. Leetch was the best defenseman of that era as far as I'm concerned! :)

What happened on those days?
