Take off your glasses.

Hanzal is a pretty good top 6 center.

McCarron will never be more than an effective 3rd line center with grit.

Hanzal is a third line center on most teams in the NHL.

Anyways, we'll see where the Canadiens are at the trade deadline and if Hanzal is serviceable.

Hanzal?
Martin Hanzal?
The 29 yr old who hasn't played a full season in 6 yrs?
The guy who only broke 40pts twice in his 9yr NHL career?
That Martin Hanzal?

Pass
Well, yeah, as advertised: you rejected reality and substituted your own version. Awesome.
sell your used car to someone else, I know I know Hanzel is great and was only driven by an old lady from upper Vermont and parked the car every winter as she went to Florida. I don't want your used car.
You buy moving vans and only date virgins too, right?

Sunglasses on, popcorn out, this thread checks all the boxes.

You forgot the two way play, the size, and the fact that he has consistently been one of the best FO guys in the league. But he's worth a 2nd rounder, ok.

Nobody seems to watch the Pacific

I never said he was worth a 2nd........ I said a late first or a very good prospect. I'm sorry he's not worth the same as Andrew Ladd who return a 1st + Dano.

The Hanzal that shuts down your opponent's best player night after night. Pretty valuable in the playoffs.

it's quite simple

Hanzal fair value is probably a 2nd, but he will probably return a 1st, as some others pointed out

I'd quite happily give a 2nd for Hanzal. But a 1st, I'd pass.

And yes, he'd be a major improvment over Desharnais on this team.

This is a lofty claim at the best of times. I guess it makes sense for Yotes fans to have a bit of a Napoleonic complex though.

Even with the win tonite we got destroyed in the face off circle again tonite. Hansal immediately helps that. Dressing the deal up with desharnais frees up 400000 more salary which I believe is worth close to a million at the deadline. Hab fans would appreciate him more seeing him all the time. Andrighetto desharnais and a first which will be late anyway.

I think a third line of Hanzal shaw and macarron would be an awesome shutdown line.

Hanzal would be at minimum an elite 3rd center on any serious playoff contender, average 2nd on some. I'm curious which teams you think have a better 3rd line center then Hanzal?

Don't need part time players.

I understand but you also need to realize, Hanzal would need to play on the third line in Montreal. Would he be an upgrade to Desharnais in the playoffs, probably.

Like you say, other teams might slot him in their second line, so they may have more interest in his services. Right now if we need size and grit on the third line, we can call up McCarron.

Would Hanzal be an upgrade on desharnais in the playoffs ? Probalbly ? The man has been going head to head with top centers in the west for years and he's 29. There was also a time when Markov was injured frequently and no one thought he could have a healthy year either. He would be perfect for us considering his cap hit.
