Speculation: Hanifin to Nashville

We have Josi and mcdonagh on the left. Both are top 4 guys. We don’t need Hanifin. Period. If Trotz sought out an older leader role player like oreilly why would he move the oreilly of our defense in McDonagh? He had NMC anyways. Point being, we need a top pairing RD to play with Josi. If we spend assets on defense it’s not Hanifin, it’s Pesce. If he’s still available. Him and Josi would be filthy.

Josi pesce
McDonagh fabbro
Lauzon Stastney

Get rid of carrier and Barrie. Spare parts.

Who needs Hanifin if you’re rolling with Jo(si) Pesce on your top pairing.

i don't really see the fit of a righty/lefty dman swap for either team unless they are trading other players. maybe a third team with a forward is in the mix?

Pesce is apparently "not on the market anymore" I guess. He was Trotz's first choice. Hanifin is more like a consolation prize. But since Trotz is still looking only for "bargain steal" scenarios, he is probably not going to land any real player at the meagre prices he is offering? :dunno:

Trotz can have Tyler Myers for a pack of Diddy Donuts.

What was that scenario Preds and Canucks fans kept talking about? Something like swapping 1sts and we'd take the Myers contract? In the end, I'm glad it didn't happen since we got the player we wanted in the draft anyway. Myers is definitely a much different beast than Pesce or Hanifiin.

Says who?

The Canes very likely would trade Pesce if they got a solid offer. I’ll be mildly surprised if they don’t trade him by opening night, personally.

Man Nashville is becoming a powerhouse. They even owned Galchenyuk’s rights for a period

This deal would have much more than Fabbro coming back to Calgary.

There’s not much of an age difference between the two and one is an actual pair carrying dman in the NHL, entering his prime. The other still needs some protection, and is looking like he’s about to settle into being an average role player.

If Conroy makes trades like these, he won’t be around very long.

Hey, not all orgs have the luxury of running two separate tanks within the span of a decade to stock up. Others have to acquire the rights to bust former top 5 picks and not even qualify them. Sucks to be us.

Then it wouldn't happen, I don't get the feeling Trotz is willing to give up anything on the prospect front unless it's for a really good forward.

What?

The Canes dealing Pesce surely wasn’t contingent on them getting Karlsson.
It surely was from the Nashville POV, since our only way of making up the price gap was to weapon Cap space as a go-between. There is no other way for us to afford to trade for Pesce.

Does not compute.

The Preds have almost $8M in space. They can take on Pesce at his full cap hit.

If you’re insinuating that the Canes would have paid the Preds to take on Pesce as a cap dump as part of a Karlsson acquisition, you’re out to lunch.

If you’re hinting at the Preds not wanting to pay up the Canes’ asking price of likely at least a 1st, then you may be onto something.
