I'm mostly just suspect of both him and Markstrom as I think Calgary's defence is bordering on excellent and Sutter was extremely defensive minded...so it doesn't make sense to me that both goalies' results were so poor on paper. I also get it was a challenging year for a lot of goalies and there's a strong Calgary link in Toronto now, but I'm not sure I'd be that eager to get Vladar into TOR for that price. It's a bit of a goalie wasteland there lately and I think they'd need a more proven option.
Calgary's defense was bordering on excellent, that is proven by their SA/60 being 3rd best in the league. What they did allow though was a lot of medium danger shots (shots from the high slot or between the dots), at least in comparison to high and low danger. This is where Vladar's SV% was clearly lacking. The quality of shots from there are generally better than high danger ones being jammed right in front of the net

What are you even talking about? Hanifin and Lindholm don't need a new contract this summer and Hanifin's certainly not getting more than a 2M raise. In the summer of 2024 (when Hanifin's contract ends) the team that currently has the least cap space is Montreal with over 19 million cap space and that's ignoring 10M in Price's LTIR contract. Edmonton has the next least with 19.9M space.

You might be the only person in the world eho thinks Scheifele and Dubois are higher priority targets than Lindholm. Absolutely brutal take
If someone is trading for them this summer they will probably want them extended Beyond next year.

Myers is 50% retained

Lol. And how much do you think one year of Myers at 50% is worth. Probably pretty close to zero. Certainly not worth enough for Hanifin a 1st and to take on a massive cap dump in OEL.

That OEL contract is horrible...4 more years.

Also, what possible sense does this deal make. Calgary is giving up their first and taking two worse d-men....why don't they just sign Hanifin. They are moving Hanfin, because they have an excess of d-men and need scoring forwards....so they are taking on two more d-men?

It wasn't entirely the goalies fault. Sutter's system was total suppression of chances against. The problem with that is that when it collapsed it would lead to a huge opportunity, typically an odd man rush, against. So save percentages would be way down, as Calgary gave up hardly any shots but lots of choice opportunities.

It's ALWAYS tough to predict goalie prices. We got a 2nd for Berra (tall toolsy) who was similar but worse than Vladar. Then you see weird things like solid goalies going for a 3rd round pick. I'm just going with Seravalli and Woodly who both say there is a ton of interest in him and us paying a 3rd for him with no NHL time.

Calgary probably needs to add a future unprotected 1st to make this deal work /green

I don't know if Vladar is an upgrade on Samsanov, so I am not sure why he would be in the deal. Woll is going to be his tandem partner next year.
I don't think Markstrom is going anywhere. And truthfully Vladar neither.

I just think that Vladar may end up a sweetener in any deal especially if with Toronto.

Tre knows the player well and what he is capable of becoming so he may try and pry him out of Calgary.

Jokhiharju & 2024 1st from Buffalo if he’d waive his NMC, but Idk if he would…

On the one hand, knows Eichel well, who probably doesn’t have a ton of nice things to say about the organization.

On the other hand, was coached by Granato at USNTDP so thsts likely a positive relationship, and Granato, along with Adams, has quickly put good vibes in place in Buffalo.

There are about 10 defensemen in the league that have any business being flashy, and the rest are pretenders, so if you are a defenseman and you aren't flashy you are probably doing it right.

Isles should be all over Hanifin, especially with their power play struggles and loss of Toews/Leddy

Debrusk + a small add for Hanifin

And I don't want to hear how Debrusk isn't even close... Debrusk is a very good player.

On the list of priorities and needs for this roster Debrusk checks very few boxes. Good player, sure, but not a need whatsoever, as he's just another left shot winger (Huberdeau, Mangiapane, Dube, Pelletier)
