Calgary's defense was bordering on excellent, that is proven by their SA/60 being 3rd best in the league. What they did allow though was a lot of medium danger shots (shots from the high slot or between the dots), at least in comparison to high and low danger. This is where Vladar's SV% was clearly lacking. The quality of shots from there are generally better than high danger ones being jammed right in front of the netI'm mostly just suspect of both him and Markstrom as I think Calgary's defence is bordering on excellent and Sutter was extremely defensive minded...so it doesn't make sense to me that both goalies' results were so poor on paper. I also get it was a challenging year for a lot of goalies and there's a strong Calgary link in Toronto now, but I'm not sure I'd be that eager to get Vladar into TOR for that price. It's a bit of a goalie wasteland there lately and I think they'd need a more proven option.
