Yes, you seemed to struggle to understand, so I tried to reword it in a way that you hopefully would.

We'll try 1 more time

If Hamilton is moved in this coming offseason, it will almost certainly be after July 1st (due to the protections of his NMC which reduce on July 1st), and so it will be AFTER he gets his bonus on July 1st. Whether the owner wants it done pre or post bonus or not doesn't really come into play.

If he is moved after the 25-26 season, it could be either before or after the bonus depending on the destination. Either way he's a real money steal tho.

If you're sending him to Florida for example, who had a profit of just 6.6 mill last year or Ottawa at just 3.8 mill, or WPG (operating at a loss) for example, you probably wait until after the bonus.

In terms of the cap. You simply wait for the Bouchard and Dobson contracts to reset the market and make 9 mill seem much cheaper as the standard.
Obviously you struggled to read what I wrote, the first time, and had to actually answer this time, except for the initial point of course , which was all that assumes an owner wants to pay 10.5 million in bonus, and then just move the player.

No-one actually knows what the owners thoughts on that are.

So to sum this thread up NJ wants to free up cap space by sending 9 million to Dallas. Can’t see Dallas having any interest. He is not worth tying up that much cap. No thanks.
Only because the Devils have Nemec and Casey in the minors. They’d likely retain a million and take a contract back to make it work.

I agree, though for a motion based powerplay, he doesn't do enough skating for me to really trust he can get open for a shot. This is why I believe we see Luke on PP1 sooner than next year. It's important for Luke to build on his confidence and clearing Dougie to get him more PP time is something I'd consider as soon as this offseason.
Luke will have to do a lot quickly for me to have faith in this move. He is the future PP1 guy, but he's not ready to QB it. I agree with your thoughts it's a timing thing.

With the past 2 seasons being shortened DH has less mileage than his odometer reads. Yes father time takes its toll and he's been hurt but it's not knees and shoulders putting him on IR. Pec muscle, broken leg etc. Guess we'll see. I'm just glad we have a good D.
I met former D coach Alain Naz in a bar before we got DH. Asked if he'd like him, his eyes lit up, "of course I'd like a DH on this team". It's not too long along we were very bad on the blueline, leys not go selling off when we've only got 1 playoff series win in a long time.
Again, I was probably the singles biggest fan of Dougie at the time of the signing. But I'm also capable of being strategic and having some foresight. It's very visible that Dougie's actual defending ability is declining.

I'm not talking about trading him in-season. And I don't know why you want to willfully misrepresent the argument. It's not "selling". No one is saying, "welp, better rebuild again". It's about reinvesting the cap dollars elsewhere in the lineup.
