A couple of notes from my first time seeing the younger players live.

Marek VanAcker looks like a very solid player.

Also, Braden O'Keefe lookes A LOT better than last year. Still tiny, but a lot more confident with the puck.

I liked Vanacker a lot. Size and was able to get his shot off in very tight spaces.

Agreed. He didn't shy away from contact either. Took a pretty hard hit along the boards and kept right on skating.

Heard it’s a broken orbital bone and having surgery today to repair….Tough break and hope he has a speedy recovery.
It was a dirty predatorial type play imo. White isn't a fighter and OPiercy grabs him from the scrim pulls him out and starts throwing punches. What ever happened to respect and code - Piercy is a meathead. Karma is a bitch. I don't very much Steve Yzerman would have been impressed with how that went down. I love to see a good fight between guys who agree to go...not when someone idiot ambushes a player and starts firing punches. Speedy recovery and see you back in the hammer GW.

That D core would be way to young imo.

Also, can Grushnikov not play in the AHL this year as a foreign born player?

I also believe that it will be a fire sale at Christmas to recoup some of the picks that they traded.

The forward group is good enough to make a run, but they lost way too much on defense to make any kind of serious run.
Would you not see which OA has the greatest value in a return? GW is a 4th rounder to Dallas, any team looking for a PP QB and a good skating puck moving dman would like pay for that?? I would also being seeing what I could get for Hayes or Diaco prior to the season starting. Not a fan of sitting a player that has been a good solider for your organization move someone pre-season and let them play.

What do you figure the price tag on these two would be?

Diaco and Hayes.

Diaco might be one of those OAs where after he is dealt you think, "wow, that's all he was worth?" A nice piece to have, but isn't going to move the needle for a contender.

Hayes would be for sure the bigger return.

I think you could recover some of those picks lost last year. Diaco or Hayes would fit nicely in Owen Sound. They need a OA forward to support that group of young forwards which will be very good. I guess Hayes bc of his numbers last year (41g and 38a) might get a bigger return. Perhaps a young 2005 rostered player and a 2nd and 3rd round draft picks.

Went to Niagara last night. A reoccurring theme to this year is going to be explaining to fans of other teams that this Xhekaj is not the one you already hate. This is a whole new Xhekaj you get to hate.
How is Florian's moustache coming along?

I would keep White, Morrison and Hayes til at least Christmas and deal them then. I would be very surprised if Staios dealt them before the season starts.

I'm not sure that they would get much for Diaco, but I assume they are trying to get something because I don't see him making the team.

Mark Duarte would be a nice add for somebody too. I would love to see him in Hamilton, but I'm not sure if there is room.

There are definitely a lot of teams keeping an eye on Hamiltons OA situation.

It's beautiful. He looks like a tiny Arber.
It's funny, my wife said exactly the same thing about him.lol

The chance that McTavish comes back is so low it can't even be measured, but I still think that Staois makes zero moves with his high end OAs until he knows for sure.

I agree with you on the OAs to keep. Run it back and see how it looks. The OA market is always funky, but Morrison and Hayes could really help a contender. Seems like Guelph would be all over Morrison.

Should be an interesting week for the Bulldogs. Some bodies are going to have to be moved or cut on the OA front...

I see that Avery Hayes, Ryan Winterton and a few others were at media day today.

Nice to see those faces back.
