Quick thoughts:

Tried to get used to equipment on RB, couldn't do it. After so many years of using melee abilities on Destiny with RB, I have to swap equipment to the stick. I think it will be fine, because given equipment has limited use and has to be picked up, I'll have equipment less often than I'll use melees. We shall see, if it's a disaster, I'll switch it back and force myself to learn.

Love the Sidekick. Not as much as the 5SK Magnum in Halo 5, but almost as much. Just feels so crisp.

BR feels good. It's got just the right touch of bloom to keep it from dominating outside it's intended range, but not so much that it feels inconsistent.

I think the AR does the right amount of damage. You basically need to empty an entire clip to kill somebody unless you combine it with a grenade to weaken or a melee to finish. I do think the range should be toned down a bit though.

Grenades feel a bit weak, but it's understandable. They don't want grenade spam to take over. Right now you basically have to make the enemy sit on your grenade to kill them with it or even get them one shot. It will usually take two grenades in the vicinity of an enemy to kill them. That's fine. Ideally, you're not using grenades as your primary weapon, you're using them to weaken or flush out enemies.

The Melee feels really bad to me, but I think that's probably just cause I'm so used to Destiny. The range just feels really inconsistent, and hitting people from above with it in particular just feels... I'm bad at it, is what I'm saying. I'll put more time in to try and adjust, but right now my cybernetic super-soldier feels like he has a gimpy little punch that goes about half a foot in front of him.

I honestly feel like all the new weapons are pretty useless thus far, with the exception of the electric pistol thing that's going to be a team-shooting monster in objective modes.

All the maps feel balanced and well designed, but pretty unmemorable.

If you want to cheese the xp system, just get a group of 4 together and go into the barracks playlist against bots. Back out until you get a CTF game. Proceed to farm the bots with whatever weapons you need to get kills with, cause the match basically lasts as long as you decide. They won't capture a flag.

It’s kind of like a noob tube in Call of Duty. You shoot it and it seems to let out two or three grenades or something. If you can aim it, it’s deadly.

I still have yet to run into any of these issues with bad spawning.
It can also bounce off of walls and has a pretty good damage radius. It might be a noob tool, but the gun isn't actually useless like that carbine pulse thing.

Definitely a gun you should try to grab in MP compared to ones like the Ravager or Heatwave which are still 50/50 for me.

So it’s a gun for getting people in hard to reach areas? Got it.

I’m glad they’ve integrated objective modes into Quickplay AND not provided a Slayer-only playlist. It hopefully will teach more people to play the objective rather than just kill kill kill.

I’m very rarely getting slayer games though. Lots and lots of Stronghold and Oddball

Cindershot is basically the plasma caster from Halo 5 but without the charge capability.

Just shoot it in the general vicinity of your target and you should be good.

Are any of our stats tracked??? K/D, W/L, accuracy, headshots, etc…

It also appears to be that there’s no ranking system except for moving along the Battle Pass, correct?

Are broken lobbies a permanent thing or just a product of the beta? I really miss shooters that didn't force you to disband the lobby.

Played a bunch more today and got ranked as platinum. I’ve been picking up how to play on an elite controller while also learning infinite’s mechanics and I’m pretty happy how much better I am compared to a few days ago.

Hydra is absolutely useless and needs a bit more power, but I admit this might be a noob post so take it with a grain of salt. .

Do you have Halo Waypoint? They might have stats there, but I checked yesterday and I didn't really see any past games so it might be coming when the real game comes out.

Yeah same. Maybe I just suck with it like I do with most of the new guns but it seems awful. I’ve only gotten 5 or so kills with it and they have to be at already low health for it to be effective.

I have Waypoint and it has zero stats. Unfortunate. I hope it’s just a simple matter of this being the beta. Otherwise that would be a major damper on my enjoyment, honestly.

I'm pretty sure they will track games, if they did it in Halo 5 they gotta bring it over for Infinite?!

This progression system is convoluted AF, you unlock items by XP from playing games to get levels, but you truly do not unlock the item until you buy the battle pass? I mean I was always going to buy it, but you gotta let players get stuff when they progress to a new level...

This game has huge potential to be a massive hit IMO. It feels phenomenal, like it actually has that classic "Halo" feel, which personally I haven't truly felt in a Halo game since H3. Reach was a solid game but didn't feel like Halo so much. H4 was trash tier and H5 wasn't that good either.

The BR feels absolutely phenomenal. Easily the best it has felt since H3. Its so strong at range, but if you have a good shot you can beat anything at close range as well. I spend the vast majority of my time playing Destiny 2 right now, but I legitimately think Infinite has a chance of eating into a major chunk of that time.

I think maybe the one quip I would have right now, is that in the Ranked playlists it doesn't seem like its even possible to go "down" in ranking. Sometimes it takes 2-3 games to gain progress upwards, but it seems like you never go down. Maybe I'm just not losing enough consistently to see it yet, that could be possible because I've probably won ~80% of games so far, but have seen some streamers saying otherwise as well so I'm not sure.

But ya, its great. I dont even have any real negative issues yet, not gameplay related anyway. Some more maps would/will be nice.

Yeah, that’s a bummer. Seems they focused on nailing multiplayer and hopefully single player, but I know people won’t be happy about that. I’ve never played campaign co-op but know its super popular.

I really don't care about the campaign but I know waiting on May for the coop is going to piss some people off, like they probably wouldn't purchase the game due to multiplayer being free and may have moved on to something else by then. Love forge and that is disappointing as well.

They need to work on the menus, rankings for the actual release. They also took out assassinations which is definitely surprising.

The ranked playlist has a ranking system. Stats were always tracked before so I assume they will add them. Halo always had one of the best stat tracking systems.

Lobbies don't usually stay together - only people in your fire team.

I started going through my weekly challenges and finding the right playlist that has those specific weapons in them is annoying, lol.

There's an entire ranked mode system.

Anyways. Haven't played since reach. Kinda annoyed that it feels like I'm trolling if I don't use the AR, sniper or br. None of the covenant weapons feel usable. Almost no alien guns in general do.

Mangler feels weirdly awesome though. But barely ever see it.

Think they did a good job on vehicle shot damage and what not. Think the maps are alright.

It's free to play. And it's halo. It is what it is, just overhyped for 2021 I guess. Man, shooters have been ruined for me by R6S.

Having played the multiplayer a good amount, the weapon sandbox definitely feels lacking compared to other games in the series.

The good: BR, Rocket Launcher, Assault Rifle, Sidekick, Sniper Rifle and Bulldog all work as you would expect and are solid weapons. Actually a huge fan of the Bulldog once you realize trading power for firing rate actually makes shotguns better in Halo.

As for the rest:

Heatwave: I actually like this weapon. People seem underwhelmed by it but in its vertical firing mode this gun shreds. Two shots is enough to kill in most cases if you can land it

Cindershot: not quite like the plasma caster like I thought it was. Hits pretty hard if you can land your shots or use it to area control. Not bad I guess.

Pulse carbine; absolute garbage. Sucks at short range and you're a fool if you're trying to use it at longer range since anyone taking a long range fight with you probably has a BR or something that isn't this which will proceed to mop the floor with you

Plasma pistol: is as it always was.

Sentinel beam; is as it always was

Needler: also is what it always was. Never liked this weapon since I sucked and still do suck with it lol.

Mangler: supposed powerful "hand cannon" that takes three headshots to perfect. Anything that isn't a headshot feels especially weak compared to other weapons. Not a fan

Commando: Incredibly fun gun to use but also incredibly junk. It's in this weird area of being bad at shorter ranges (takes 8 shots to down shields, AR is superior) while also being bad at longer ranges (BR superiority, bloom, etc) leaving its niche to be weirdly specific. Love how it feels but it's still junk

Disruptor: allegedly very good in modes where vehicles come to play but absolute crap outside of it. Tickle gun.

Shock rifle: actually kinda deadly. Have to charge between shots but it's a one hit kill to the head + can chain to nearby targets. Love it.

Stalker rifle: feels like a weird cross between the beam rifle and carbine? Variable zoom so it's good at anything outside of short ranges (rate of fire = you lose at short.) Don't mind it.

Skewer: this weapon f***s. Dumpsters vehicles and is a guaranteed one hit kill if it hits a Spartan anyway. Tough to use with its slower reload and projectile drop off but the trade off is worth it.

Ravager: hate it. Weird ass projectile arc on regular shots and then takes a million years to use it's charge shot. Somehow got an achievement for killing someone with the damaging pool of plasma it leaves behind on charge shots

Hydra: this weapon exists in this game apparently. Can't imagine it was much different than it is in 5 so it's probably okay.

Grav hammer/sword: melee weapons, basically the same as they've always been

Feels like 5 had a lot more combat oriented weapons than situational like this game did
