I think the timing and angle could be arguable…
But yeah I also don’t think it was a “bad “ hit and IMO shouldn’t be a big suspension if any

Also blows my mind they send bastian back out there to get obliterated again and then punched in the head

I was wondering how bastion even passed concussion protocol. Thought he definitely was concussed.

Rempe had a one game suspension today. That should be enough.

This is a good example of a recent review of the rule that resulted in suspension:

The Rempe hit is close to this. But the second view posted earlier in the thread shows that Rempe made full contact through Bastian’s core. That is the differentiation that makes most of Trouba’s big hits legal, for example.

In the McAvoy hit, in the last angle from the side, you can see him rise upward just before impact to connect with the head. He also makes very little contact with OEL’s core.

The Rempe hit is on the border IMO. Don’t expect a close call with the DPS to go the NYRs way.

The Rempe hit is nothing close to that

oh and being big fat MEANIES against them totally threw them off their game.

To those who think GRIT doesn't matter.

Devils fans, both online and in the arena, clutching their pearls everytime there was some manly violence on the ice, they were shocked and appalled at any physicality because they assembled a team full of scrawny twinkletoed wimps.

Honestly I'm liking the energy Rempe is bringing but hits like that will lose us games. Say what you want about keeping your head up etc but you can't hit the head directly like that. If somebody hit a Ranger like that we'd be losing our minds.

He's trying to make an impact but I'm seeing alot of Ryan Hollweg in Rempe. You just can't throw hits to the head like that.

He throws that hit in the playoffs it could lose us a series. He's not gonna play in the playoffs but he's gotta realize it's not open season out there

This is what the Rangers needed to do last year in the playoffs against the Devils. Men against boys. Hughes is built like a Make a Wish kid, he’s due for an injury every year. His rookie brother on d? Even Mika of all people muscled him tonight. Jesper Bratt? He should change his name to Casper because he’s a ghost when the going gets tough. Job well done NYR. That was the most physical I’ve seen this team play in a long time.

This is something I really can't believe I saw. After the Rempe hit and the laughably soft and inept "powerplay" there was no response at all from the devils. No chippiness, no scrums at either net, no pushing or shoving during line changes, nothing. And when Trouba neutered them again and literally laughed at their entire team, the cowardly debbies completely abandoned any physical effort.

It's f***ing ridiculous when Jack Hughes is trying to set the tone after the whistle with predictable results after he bounced off Kakko. But at least I give him some respect for doing it. Where the f*** were the rest of the devils? They were hiding and hoping not to get hit. Disgusting and cowardly performance by the devils and I'm glad the Rangers humiliated them.

Re the deserve-to-win-o-meter ... Imo the Devils did have a lot of good opportunities, but they didn't get the most dangerous shots they could out of them. SInce the xG models Moneypuck & others use are simple, they can't tell whether NJ got a good shot off or not.
