Habs vs Wings

Good point. Maybe Yzerman should hose your GM and take him too. Holl for Xhekaj + 4th round pick 2025. Oh wait, he already owns that one.
Yzerman should start by hosing his team to the playoffs.

Guy talks like Hutson is a 1 hit wonder meanwhile treats Yzerman like the last prophet when he's working his way towards the next rebuild already.

We said Raymond had a high sh% wich was true. It was near 20% and we said his production came too much from a unsustainable pp wich is still true. Again, it's wings fans who claimed that Raymond was significanly better than Suzuki, claiming he was on track to be like Kucherov
I could care less about Suzuki vs. Raymond debates, they are different players with different trajectories. However, it's a fact that Raymond has significantly outproduced Suzuki at the same age and has a production trajectory similar to players like Kucherov, better than guys like Kyle Connor etc., nothing about that has changed because he's been through a slump the last 15-20 games.

I'd also add that the PP scored 63 goals last season. This year on pace for 67. The major difference this year isn't that the PP is magically much better, it's that it now runs through Raymond. Even if it regresses to a 50 goal PP it's probably likely that Raymond's PP production keeps being higher than it was last season.

he's averaged a 10.5 on ice sh% over the past 3 seasons. That's 246 games bud.
And Raymond's averaged over a 15% shooting % in the past 3 seasons, bud. Still you guys seem to believe that the only true sample size are the 20 games during which he's been shooting below 10%.

Huh? What are you talking about? We were talking about on ice sh%, Raymond's on ice sh% over the past 3 seasons is 9%. On ice sh% is how many shots turn into goals when you are on the ice. DET has scored 130 goals on 1443 shots taken with Raymond on the ice, that's 9% over 232 games

I don't know how many it needs to be repeated to you, the only place Raymond is trending better is on the PP. They've produced at the same rate at even strength at the same age, but Suzuki did it on a worse team with worse linemates. He absolutely is not on the same trajectory as Kucherov lol.

I love how you say a trajectory similar to guys like Kucherov as if that was not a huge outlier. He's also on a trajectory similar to players like Jordan Eberle.

Every star player is an outlier lol. By that token Hutson is also on a trajectory similar to Gostisbehere which we both agree is a crazy comparison.

Also, kind of hard for Xhekaj to kick ass from the press box eh guys?

That's my point, comparing trajectories is a fool's errand. Lazy analysis. Just watch the games. You got a good sample of why Hutson is of a different breed tonight.

I never disagreed that Hutson is great. I’ve also watched every single wings game and Raymond is far better than Eberle ever was so…

This is for all the habs fans insisting laine was going to be different for them and that dach will actually be a difference maker. It’s funny how as soon as habs fans started to try and make fun of Detroit and gloat about their team, they tanked down the standings and Detroit passed them while winning head to head
Well this didn't work out like how you thought it would huh

Had a feeling that this thread was gonna get steamy one way or the other at the end of tonight’s game.

It's ok Detroit are a young up and coming team. Oh wait they're one of the oldest in the league while the Habs have the literal youngest lineup in the league once Demidov steps on the ice.

Congrats to the Habs on a great season - you can tell that group has a killer instinct and that’s what Detroit is ultimately missing. They played great tonight but you can’t win any games scoring 1 goal on 23 shots in a single period.

Looking forward to seeing you in the playoffs down the line. Hopefully this thread can stay sane, lol.

And immediately it goes where you’d expect. Sigh.

Detroit is old because the filler players are old. The core is very young and there’s Danielson/ASP/MBN/Buchelnikov coming. You know that as well as I do. What is the point of misleading posts for no reason?

I really don't get what's going wrong in Detroit. You guys certainly have a talented enough F core to make the playoffs. Seider is a stud too. Coaching issue?

None of those guys are even close to Demidov/Hutson level. Habs very clearly are better in the present and future.

Coaching is great since McLellan showed up.

Problem is the depth players are legitimately horrible. You cannot make the playoffs with Justin Holl and Erik Gustafsson in your lineup. Jeff Petry is a top 4 defenseman for us. Tarasenko is horrible. Compher is fairly useless. The whole bottom 6 is essentially completely useless.

The GWG was scored tonight by Josh Anderson from Dvorak. Our bottom 6 is completely incapable of such play. That’s really the key - the filler players are among the worst in the league. They’re only even close to a wildcard spot bc of the kids.

Dach isn’t good and Laine just got benched again. This is for all the habs fans insisting laine was going to be different for them and that dach will actually be a difference maker. Montreal has absolutely great prospects and are on the right track, but the way some Montreal fans were talking about them in comparison to Detroit was insane. Detroit is ahead right now, but that could change in the future.

Lol, ok dude. Whatever you say.

We finished ahead of Ottawa last season by 10 pts and now they’re ahead of both of us. Can we stop pretending like all these extremely similar teams are in some different tiers? Do you guys just come on here to gloat when things are going well, or is there any actual interest in discussion? Lol.

Just ignore the troll. They feed on people like you responding. Detroit had too many misses early on their rebuild but they have been drafting very well recently and those good drafts will eventually show in the standings - sooner than later.

*I really liked Kasper & Edvinsson tonight

Habs took a massive leap forward over the wings this year and they still have Demidov/Reinbacher coming. It's clearly Habs this second.

And lets be honest, it's all thanks to Lane, without him the Wings may have a decisive edge and the Habs may be in the cellar again.
