You must be watching TSN too much.... Rielly is one of the worst defensive player in the entire NHL, Joe Morrow 2.0. Most overrated player in the NHL.

Gardiner is a good defenceman and he's pretty close to Petry but not there yet.

As someone who watches tonnes of leafs games.... Gardiner is trash. Pretty much the same player as Beau. Looks great one second then he makes the most boneheaded play you can imagine. Zaitsev I'll admit is very good though.

So we should praise them on our board? Is this what you are suggesting?

Yes, they have some good pieces down there and other teams have good pieces too...

This isn't the "Habs vs Other teams " GDT, it's Habs vs Leafs.

So we don't need , yet another, fan police on this board trying to dictate proper fan behaviour, and telling others to fk off to other boards.

Riley is the best defenceman on the ice after Weber, no question. I prefer Petry over Gardiner, when he's playing physical, he's very very good.

Weber
Riley
Petry/Gardiner/Zeitiev
Alzner

Our own GM thinks he's a blue chip defensive prospect that he would be hesitant to move.

I don't listen to any Bergevin interviews anymore. He sounds like a complete idiot when he talks. He said that he wont go after any top 6 players because he wants to try and provide more depth scoring to compensate the lack of primary scoring. He said that we don't need a #1 center to win the cup. He said that Sergachev won't get traded, and he got traded. He said that Subban will be a Hab for a very long time and then he got traded. He said that Galchenyuk will never be a C, and played him at C since the start of that season. I'm at the point of just seeing what he does rather than listening to what he says.

Julien says he doesn't want to break the other lines as he wants them to play together su they get used to each others.

Why not just try something new? I mean the Habs haven't won a single game, you can always go back to the Galchenyuk-Danault combo...

That's exactly what they're doing btw.

Galchenyuk-Danault-Hemsky!

So ****ing try your 30 goal scorer on the first line rather than a guy who was a scratched player for most of the playoffs! You don't even know what Julien is doing either.

Ok, you just don't get it.

You are right, I don't. I don't understand why Julien goes from scratching Mitchell in the playoffs to playing him on the top line. I don't understand how it is ok for breaking up Hemsky from that line, and try to let him build chemistry with someone else but the same can't be done to Galchenyuk because he should learn to build chemistry with something that hasn't worked AT ALL. I am fine with admitting that I don't get what Julien is trying to do, because nobody understands. You are posting arguments that are going against one another proving that you have no clue what they are doing either.

Dude, this is the lineup they will start the season with.

Put Mitchell instead of DLR, Shaw instead of Froese and Drouin on the first line and there you go.

Hemsky is going to play on the RW first line or the second line it's not a big change, Galchenyuk is starting the season as an LW, deal with it.

Mitchell is on the first line just because he keeps the spot for Drouin, he's not there to build chemistry or something... :shakehead

I hope we see a semblance of some good organized hockey tonight.
As much as the end result doesn't matter certain aspects of the process do matter.

Galchenyuk has gone downhill ever since he fired Igor Larionov.

Not surprising, Larionov was Galchenyuk's longtime mentor and life coach. He admitted to talking to him on a daily basis sometimes even more than his own wife.

Honestly, that is a real good observation. I had forgotten about that part. Didn't Larionov say in an interview after he was replaced that he did all he could to help the kid but his family was too involved? Correct me if I'm wrong.

His current agent is one of the best in Pat Brisson. But he has a lot of high profile clients (Kopitar, Toews, Crosby, Kane, Duchene, Tavares to name a few). But he has his hands in a lot of issues in the league whereas Larionov could afford to give a little more of his time and effort to his client. And with the career Larionov had, that is surely a good mentor to learn from.
