What Drouin is showing us, is that even shitty players can look good with exceptional players. It doesn't mean he has miraculously improved or anything, it is all a smoke screen. He will earn a contract somewhere for 3 years and decent money, and the team he signs with, will be regretting that decision within 6 months.
Went back to Drouin’s numbers vs Dach:
22-23
JD 58 gp 29 pts
KD 58 gp 38 pts

21-22
JD 34 gp 20 pts
KD 70 gp 26 pts

sure Drouin is younger
not comparing numbers as argument

was surprised by numbers. Shitty vs main cause of bad year.

Don’t mind if I wipe away a single tear as we watch them raise the #92 to the rafters for an all-time great.

Drouin was exactly the wrong fit for the habs. The wrong player for the team at the time. He wasn't the only one, either, Bergevin went out and acquired way too many similar players that were exactly not what the team needed. It was a terrible situation but it was a GM problem not a Drouin problem.

If the habs have huge turnover and end up with a bunch of big engaged play drivers with few small, skilled players then it would be great to have him back. I think it's very unlikely that such a transformation occurs before Drouin retires.
No thanks, I'd never want to see him back in a Habs jersey ever again, regardless how well he does on other teams.

will Drou Drou have a tear in his eye? God the video tributes are so cringe. Back in the day they would welcome you back by giving you a fistful of knuckles and a 2 minute boarding penalty,.

It still happens to a certain extent, it just depends if the player was liked in the room or not.

The kostitstyns definitely had some beef with grabo and it boiled over against the leafs one night

I also remember when the Habs were up in huet's grill alot when he returned. He was visibly rattled.

I don't think drouin was hated in the room, or anything like that but then again, I'm not there.

I hope the crowd gives him a big cheer.

I don't know why fans get so callous when it comes to players. They're real humans!

I typically don't like former Habs doing really well as it indicates we might have made a mistake...

I don't feel that way one bit in this case, so I can just enjoy it.

Let's get it out there early.......we haven't seen Habs Halifax in a long time. Let's @ him tonight.
Habs Halifax is a woman. And we had some spicy debates going back to the 17/18 season about Drouin. A little sad she isn’t here for this one.

Been reading that a lot: booing as a sign of respect.
so what are they doing when its a player underserving of respect?
Polite ignore? Golf clap? Unless it’s someone deserving an ass kick then we chant “Nilan! Nilan!“.

Each to his own. I doubt Drouin will improve a lot or that the team will evolve in a way that it would benefit from getting him back, but should it happen I wouldn't be upset. Drouin wasn't effective here but I don't resent him for it. There are a lot of players who don't work out, there aren't that many who fail because of lack of effort. Drouin had issues but I doubt he didn't try. He put up decent numbers when the team was doing well, and his scoring with Colorado isn't much different from what he did here, and he has a way better team now.

it's gonna be so sickening to hear cheers for Drouin... if that happens our fanbase is even more dumb than I thought
