I guess I'm one of the few who didn't care. IOC is one of the most corrupt organizations in the world and one of the richest, why should the NHL pay to send them their players when no other organization does?

On top of that a lot of the players who are complaining right now are players who've already been to not only one but several Olympic Games.

It's not Russia/Olympics paying Ovechkin $9m either.

Games should go under 23 anyway.

I don't disagree about the IOC and I don't really care about The Olympics -- but it's incredibly short sighted and disrespectful to the players who want to go. It should be their right to go. Without them the NHL does not exist.
