No friend, I commented my thoughts clearly: the regression from the players HuGo specifically acquired is (1) not good in general and (2) gives me cause to be sceptical of their judgement and ability.
I guess you are speaking of Dach, Barron and Newhook when you say "players acquired". To be fair, it is not KH fault if Dach got injured and lost a full year when in fact he was trending upwards.

Newhook is playing exactly as advertised. I think some have a romantic notion of what he can bring to this team. In an ideal world, he should play 3rd line/energy style where he can use his speed to forecheck. He's in the wrong chair because of the lack of depth on this team.

I never like Barron and that trade so, that is indeed a clear "fail" for KH in my book, but no GM wins all it's trade.

the media and Kent mentioned several times they liked getting the 'local guy' back home, I am not rewriting lol
Oh i'm sure they liked getting a local player. But what i mean is they knew what they were getting. A 30ish points 2nd pairing dman who was not good defensively which with his contract was worth pretty much nothing. But to trade Petry without retention we had to accept a contract and well a local player was a bonus for sure. Mathesom doing 60 points was certainly never predicted by anyone in the league. It was never supposed to happen.

We can't say that so far KH acquisitions via trades worked cause they certainly have not for now. He gave Romanov, a 31st overall (obtained for Chiarot) and a 37th overall and got Dach and Newhook in return. Both players will be 24 soon and are very close to be "as seen on TV". What we can say though is they were not bad gambles. The picks and players he gave were not elite either. He gambled and probably lost but it made sense and that's what is important.

The other trades the jury is still out. Mesar and Heineman for Toffoli too soon to tell. Lehkonen and 26th (obtained for nothing see below) overall for Barron and 21st overall against too soon to tell if Hage becomes a top 6 then worth it. Kulak for Hutson looks outstanding but jury is still kind of out at this point.

He won a trade though and it was a big win. He traded nothing and got two first round picks. That's definitely a win unless you overvalue "nothing". As for the players he drafted too soon to say and it will remain the same for another 2 years. Slaf looks fine. Hutson too. Hage looks good. Demidov too. Reinbacher sample size is too small.
