I'd rather look at it as building a top 6. Dubois, if true to his word, wants in. The top pick in the draft will be the other piece. A proper top 6 to be proud of
I wouldn’t discount Beck, who is such a pro at a young age — he may well have top 6 potential but we’ll need to give it time. So much fun to have such an intriguing prospect at C in the pipeline.

You look at the young core of this team for the future, they have 4 top 6 players with Slaf, Dach, Suzuki and Caufield, 2 off them are already star players, 2 top 4 dmens in Guhle and Harris, after this year draft we should have pretty much all the pieces in place to develop a contending team in the near future.

Kids are great. Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj are our new core.

Vets are just awful. Putrid game from Edmundson. Bring Kovacevic back & play him with Harris. Move Eddie back with Xhekaj and sit Wideman.

Hoffman out after the icing call with 2 minutes left & f***ing turns over the puck leading Vegas to get the puck out. It's kept out for almost a minute. Hoffman should not be out in that situation. He's beyond bad.

I doubt Anderson gets suspended, but we'll see. Petro wasn't injured, got up quick enough to start punching & didn't miss a shift. If Anderson is, it's no big loss. He's been doing f*** all out there.

Slafkovsky-Monahan-Anderson should at least be tried as a 2nd line. Put Drouin with Dvorak and Gallagher.

4th line is a mess. Evans is not off to a good start. Hoffman, Pitlick & Dadonov are all basically unplayable. Armia is doing Armia shit.

Allen played well.

Perfect loss really. Kids played great. Vets are tanking.

Our top Lads were exhausted so he would have had to call a time out. He tried to get a quick one against a tired Vegas line. If Hoffman could hit the broad side of a barn it might just have worked. That what having no depth does.

No one cares where Hoffman can hit or not the side of the barn when he's taking one-timers from behind the goal-line.

I mean, it's legitimately the most ridiculous play one could possibly make past pee-wee hockey.

He had a glorious chance from the slot. I'm not getting your meaning?

Hopefully but all it takes is a couple teams having worse injury luck than us.
Too early to tell. Some teams have been underperforming a lot : SJS ANA VAN CBJ OTT STL PIT on top of my mind. I still believe OTT PIT STL VAN and one of ANA SJS (because West is weaker) should end up recovering and be ahead of the Habs. If you think CHI won‘t manage to keep up that‘s 4-5 teams worse than the Habs. I am always cautious to draw conclusions before 20 games (except if you lose your 10 first games but even then remember STL was last in December before winning the SC in the Spring so who knows ;) )

Beck is great but I believe a championship team needs a 3C that's basically a 2C. I see Beck as the perfect candidate to lead the 3rd line for the next decade+ when he eventually joins the big club

I think I've seen enough of Hoffman.

No one cares
It was a fairly entertaining game to watch. Seeing the young guys contributing and looking good is all that really matters to me this season. I don't care about the loss.

Someone would have a much better chance of scoring in a convent than having Drouin, Hoffman, and Gally out there with the goalie pulled hoping to score a goal. :)
Loss preservation.

maybe I'm suffering from PTSD from our player development for the past decade+, but I need to see him dominate juniors offensively before coming to the pros.

He gives me DLR vibes.

I don‘t think Dvorak is actively bad but he just does not seem to want to be here. Monahan and Drouin and Hoffman together was completely useless…
To be fair, I don't think Dvorak ever wanted to be in Montreal. He's a good piece to attach a mid size contract (Armia, Hoffman, etc) and a pick to, to clear up cap space
