Harris was bad last night for sure. I honestly don't know what to think of him as a player. He doesn't do anything great IMO. He's like Dvorak on D.

Matheson, defensively, has been a horror show all season. He gives up odd-man rushes every second shift, bad giveaways trying to do too much, etc. I get a glimpse into how little some people watch the games/stat watch when I see on Twitter some people think he's been "fantastic."
He has had games where his skating has been outstanding. Last night is the worst I've seen him play. Harris was utterly horrible. Enough to get scratched next game in my opinion.

He's more the shooter from the point, the Souray type, though with the new diamond pp format he plays top of the diamond. Souray would have been one of the worst pp b's in NHL history, yet he was an elite power play guy. I think he holds the record for Habs pp goals by a havs D in a season.

Xhekaj's strengths are getting pucks to the net and his one timer, though the Habs hardly ever set up and take one-time on the pp.
Maybe he gets pucks to the net but he’s not being set up as a triggerman. It’s just weak wristers. Other than that he either passes it to the left or right. I think Barron’s mobility would be better suited.

Gotta stop picking up the loser points… how can we ever compete with SJ for last place

I think it’s very possible we see the young D take a big step in their development this year, in turn, taking habs out of the lottery pack.

We’re already starting to see a little bit with Guhle and Barron.

Fans really want star forwards, but having a strong D core can really propel a team forward.
If they both stay healthy and solidify themselves as top4 D or better, this season will be a win.

Yes I want to see Barron. I only put Xhekaj on the pp if we use 2 dmen, or a forward is the qb.

And I'd like to see more one timers on our pp, so I'm not against using Xhekaj as a triggerman.

I mean Eichel alone is a consistent PPG + C, something we haven't had in decades.
Right? And then on top of that, they basically have their Suzuki with Stephenson.

Gotta stop picking up the loser points… how can we ever compete with SJ for last place
SJ isn't even last place. And we're too good for that.

We will finish around 14th-20th this year.

I’m really upset that Dach got hurt. But man, watching Barron and Guhle is fun.
That was such a terrible stoke of bad luck, real shame as he looked like he was emerging as a 1C.
The fact we're still missing quality depth at forward only aggravates his loss, I feel lines will be hard to balance all season long without him.

Gotta look for the positives though, hopefully there will be other welcome surprises along the way.

LOL!

I'm under 50 but watched a lot of re-runs in lieu of being parented. I actually got familiar with that show in the 90's. I think Pulp Fiction and the rebirth of Travolta's career had more stations syndicate it then.
I too watched Kotter after it was off air but never saw all the episodes. Only last year did I catch up on the Get Smart series with Don Adams. I tried to do the same with Bewitched and I Love Jeannie, but lost interest. Some shows just didn’t age well.

Maybe I should revisit Batman with Adam West, Gilligan’s Island and Star Trek, as there are several episodes I haven’t seen. Fun to dabble into some of these epic shows from long ago.

Although I suspect @OldCraig71 might be an authority on all of the above. Surprised he hasn’t chimed in yet to find out how popular he’s become once again. :sarcasm:

I dunno, I bet @OldCraig71 could talk more about "listening" to Amos 'n' Andy, Ma Perkins, Jack Benny, The Ford Sunday Evening Program, etc. :help:

Guhle was impressive and I tought Barron played more physical tonight, more involved playing along his buddy. I like that pairing, they played together at the WJC and they looked real good playing together tonight.
Barron was very very good using his frame to seperate player and puck. He'll never punish anyone that way but he also won't take himself out of the play a la Arber Xhekaj.

I missed most of the game - any reports on how Barron looked? He played over 20 minutes and had strong fancy stats, so it seems he handled himself very well against a strong VGK team.

It starting to seem as though Barron's development is taking a big step.

Star Trek is well worth it. All of those early sitcoms are a bit intolerable because of the laugh track. I do sing the Gilligan’s island theme song more than I would like.

Arber made me feel bad for Harris a few times last night. I know that will be an unpopular option around here, but he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off in the defensive zone so much. Harris had to cover so much more than he should.

I’m 49 and remember this show very well!

Sanford and Son, Fat Albert, All in the Family, Good times…man, what a great time in television!!

All in the Family would still be relevant and topical now. What a fantastic show, incredible cast, and the perfect delivery of social commentary in humor without hitting people over the head with it.

That was an unusually strong and impressive display from the chaps, went toe to toe with the champs and at times looked like the superior team, that was refreshing to see. Must be driving many of you mad though.lol.
Vegas off to a fantastic start,no cup hangover for them somehow.
