Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Wild. Uneventful at best.

Heinemen & Guhle are desperately needed for any sort of playoff run and they’re out for weeks. I want to see how they look against Anaheim, because I’m on the verge on wanting them to big sellers at the deadline.
Many of us felt we weren't making the playoffs even with them healthy. There are far too many question marks surrounding this roster. This is a game we tried in against a team that simply knows how to beat us. The 31 yr old kid out of Bromont out played every center on our team on a B2B. It wasn't even Eriksson Ek who beat us.

...said it moons ago; we're not ready to contend...might not even be next year...

Won't be until we fix the holes on the team. I'm guessing another 2-3 seasons to make an actual run for the play-offs.... Cup? half a decade minimum to even mention it.

I am so pissed off right now!

It's one thing to lose to a good hockey team (boring as heck) which they did.
BUT to get shutout in your own barn to Fleury in his last game is EMBARESSING!
So mad I can only put my thoughts in bullets!

  • Do they actually try MISSING the next at practice, it looks like it.
  • Can we teach the Dmen to get shots to the NET or at least stop hitting the guy right in front of you.
  • Evans 3 years at $3.-0- $ 3.2 million AAV; He had a hot streak folks but a serviceable 4th line C for now.
  • Armia, Dvorak and Savard can go for peanuts at the deadline, it doesn't matter either way.
  • I would not re-sign Liane (a PP specialist) but the Wild just showed you how easy it is to neutralize him.
  • Maybe unpopular, but WiFi is a a 7th Dman on a good team, doesn't have much hockey sense.
  • "The mix" is fading fast, that's okay by me, they seemed to have figured out their identity and one good UFA offensive signing, a couple of PHYSICAL bottom six players to go with Anderson, Gallaher and Heineman plus Demidov and one of Reinbacher or Logan M and the team will be in a playoff hunt next year.
  • Prayers and best wishes to Ghule, see you next year bud!! TAKE YOUR TIME TO RECOVER.

He really is Mike Hoffman deluxe.

Can't skate, can't do anything good on the ice other than shooting the puck on the PP.
Skating is the last thing he can be faulted for. He has long musculature (I hope I'm spelling that right), so it's going to take some time for him to get his speed back. I also don't expect perfect acceleration, his muscle structure doesn't allow it. Same with his shot, he doesn't have that speed and accuracy. What annoys me differently is how he passes, the use of his body.

It was a nice run, habs back to sucking again?
100%
That hot stretch we had was a combination of our 4th line heavily overachieving for a month, our powerplay becoming unsustainably good when Laine returned and pretty solid goaltending.

Now we're missing Heineman and Guhle, Evans has cooled off and returned to his normal level of production, our powerplay has cooled off and the team is very clearly showing signs of fatigue. Even though we're far from mathematically eliminated, it feels like the writing's on the walls already.

...we knew this...people have to stop thinking we got Winnipeg Laine...he's been exactly as advertised for years now; he can snipe and move like a cement truck...that's it...
You are not right. He had 36,31 in 2022/23 (one has concussion in 2023/24 so he can't skate good in that season). Caufield had 36,63 in 2023/24 season. He isn't slow. Btw, speed his shot is worse too.

...amigo, you're using scoring to...what, prove he isn't slow and moves like a cement truck??...I said he can snipe cuz that's what he does... :dunno:

MSL: "Il nous manquait beaucoups de jus a soir..."

No shit.

But why???

Maybe our kids are too young and our old guys are too old. Who knows. I think we became "good" when Hutson began to tear it up and his age might have something to do with him slowling down. So the whole team got affected.

Not to mention we have no PP and that's Laine's bread and butter.

But I remember when they were on a hot streak, the press was praising MSL cause he didn't have the guys practicing much. So the idea was that this is why they were energetic. What if we have a horrible team and the only reason we had a hot streak was cause we had more energy than the other teams and now things are returning to normal?

They rarely get to practice.
