I think we got more talent than last year, at D at least. But way less experience.

Guhle, Harris, Xhakej and Barron are all NHL dmen that are learning on the job. Kovacevic is probably a journeyman, but he's doing decent.

We got tons of passengers at forward though.
The way this team is in process of rebuilt, I think the vets are not motivated at all. Why would they give extra effort when obviously they wont be here next year? They are a bunch of forwards in a losing cause, without any good teamate to create anything, except Caufield and Suzuki. These two must be feeling very alone right now. When Monahan was injured, it was predictable this team would fall. The center line is as bad as the Koivu years if not worse. I prefer any of Linden, Perreault, Smolinsky, Bonk, Juneau or Ribeiro instead of Dvorak, Evans or Drouin. A team with only one center is a losing team, period.

That's fair. I just can't blame MSL with how he turned Caufield around, when Dach is with Suzuki he looks like potential 1st line guy. Monahan looked like a born again player. That's our depth, and they are trying to split up to have some consistency and get other guys going on the ice. We don't really have a #1 goalie, and inexperience is a great way to describe them and outside Guhle Barron and Harris I don't think we have some long term solutions. Maybe Xhekaj can hang around. We're still a few years away from even competing for a wildcard spot.
Not sure about Barron and Harris reaching a tough part of the season most rookies will start the decline now. Guhle is the only true bright spot and X is he can stay out of the box.

Why would they give extra effort? Because they are paid millions of dollars a year to play 15 minutes of a game every 2-3 days. You’d think that would be enough to motivate a person.

How many of us here are paid like shit compared to them and are expected to give extra effort everyday to meet deadlines, etc?

Wouldn’t those vets want to play for their next contract — show some potential suitor that they can be an asset? If they can’t even motivate themselves to be at their best, what kind of signal does it send?

Some of them will become UFAs and may continue to entertain the thought of remaining an NHLer.

It could be the difference between earning a new contract from a stronger negotiating position vs. soliciting a PTO or end up in an inferior league they don’t want to be in.

I think the same as you dude but they don't think like you and me. The thing is, even if they try harder, the difference would be minimal. Evans, Dvo, Drou, Widem, Dado, Armia and Hoffman are just not good. They would need to bleed or to play with their highest energy like Maurice Richard to be on par with today's nhler. They are simply below average.

Hate to say it but... we were simply overmatched tonight. Tampa is an ace team and we aren't in their class. It's as simple as that.

Tampa is a better team for sure that is much further along in their competitive cycle, but I'm talking about alot more than just this game.

They've been outclassed by teams all over the competitive cycle.... Not just tonight.

It's a sad situation. I agree with you but these players just can't do it. If there was two Monahan after Suzuki, the wingers would produce here and there, the team would float in the middle of the nhl teams. But with that team there is nothing to do. I understand the next contract situation but that doesn't work. They all look bad, especially vs teams like Tampa. You can't turn lead into gold.

We weren’t expected to be good.

And we’re performing as expected. :)

Honestly I’m pretty happy with how easy it is to accept the rebuild process. After years of hearing how it could never be done with our team, we make that stride forward.

Our team is gonna be so damn sick.

We suck since Suzuki hurt himself again. Terrible how he's not accelerating and can't keep top speed as he used to. He knows we're cooked without him so he's fighting... but some backchek sequences tonight were hard to watch.

When did he hurt himself?

Poor MSL is literally doing everything in his power to make the wrong choices to aid the tank, and you can see it’s driving him crazy.

He’s trying everything he can to jumpstart the corpse of Joel Armia to anything positive, but I’m afraid that’s a completely dead battery that’s not going to take a charge.

5 rookie defensemen started tonight and people are upset we lost to the most dominant team of our era. Meanwhile the ultimate prize for losing, was putting on a hell of a show for Team Canada.

If we ended up with an elite talent like that for our year of troubles, I’d play Joel Armia every other shift in the game myself.

Some need to chill with MSL

He don’t have experience ok so ? Look at what he did with Caufield

Sure hes a rookie and he will learn with time but i trust him with the young player

Some have la mèche courte en tab
