Despite the goals

I dont see a huge progression from Caulfield. More puck luck. His passing seems worse again imo
He doesn't need to pass... just keep shooting brother ... That being said, I feel like he battles harder, and as much as he does lose a fair amount of battles (due alot to size) I feel he is winning more than last year and playing a strong defensive game.

And let's f***ing stop playing Matheson as our top-1 D in all facets of the game. Hutson should've been first on the ice in OT. And at this point, he deserves first PP as well.
Using Matheson on first PP wave is probably the worst error the coaching staff are making. They should use Lane Hutson at that place. This is like playing chess without playing with the Queen. I mean, you need to optimize your roster. I just watched the first period. They started 0/3 on PP. thisnis not normal that the second wave is more dangerous because of only one player

its unlikely he will continue to shoot 30 percent.

He needs to be able to use his linemates

No one is playing a strong defensive game on this team, sorry. Entire team including Cole are lost

In terms of progression, he more just back to two years ago. I see it more regaining form, not progressing

Just my opinion. I dont see a much different player

Kid is is the top of the league for goals... when is the last time we have had that on our team? Kid was always expected to put up huge goals and now he's finally doing it at what? 23? Is that not progression? He doesn't dissappear and go games unnoticed, he's getting chances EVERY GAME. We can sit here all night and disect passes, defensive play, battling. But if having a top nhl goal scorer on this team is not progression of a "certain player" then I will let you respectfully express your opinions without a reply.

Suzuki was 63% on faceoffs. Is it really worth the extra probability from Dvorak yet putting the worst forward on both teams on the ice?

On RDS they kept talking how Dorak had a very high FO% tonight. Even last year I remember seeing them put a C for the initial FO and then Caufield swaps in.

They could have done something else but that goal isn't on Dvorak either so not sure why a lot of people are fixing on this. No one is playing like a top 6 C on the Habs currently, that's more the issue.

I think that makes a lot of sense.
As a mediocre hockey player myself, I notice I can take some pretty good shots when I am constantly looking to shoot but if I shift my mindset to create plays and look for passing opportunities first, then my shooting becomes a lot worse.
So I’m thinking Caufield wasn’t comfortable with his shot last year post surgery which shifted his focus on the ice and now he is back to shooting and asking questions later.

I find the Suzuki Caufield duo is stale and predictable.
Dustin Wolf had no trouble getting over for the one wide open one timer Caufield got.

Suzuki for a guy who has led this team in goal scoring for two consecutive years does not look like a goal scoring threat at all.
That has to change.

sports eh.

Guys played a solid game. One of our better games this season, and definitely had better consistency throughout our lines. Hopefully they build off this game, because they played decent hockey tonight.

Probably was to win the faceoff and start with possession.
Yeah but at the same time starting Suzuki on his weak side doesn't look like a super bright idea at this point.
Seriously are we lining up our players based on what Calgary does despite this being at home.
Put Suzuki on his strong side FFS and make Calgary react to that.

Dvorak has also done well. Besides, it's better for Dvorak to skate to the bench after faceoff than after he would play the puck.
Done well? He’s waiver material this year. One match doesn’t change that.

He lets himself get tied up at the dot during 3v3 hockey and is late coming back covering the pass option

A true #1 center been Montreal need since Kirk Muller. I never watched the game but good to hear old veterans score.

I hope difference between Calgary pick or Florida 's, doesn't come down to one regulation Flames win. Going to be close

I just came back from the game after a long drive between Montreal and Quebec. We had fun but that second PP unit was farcical even though Gally scored. WTF Marty? Also I don't know who lost his coverage on the tying goal but my God, very low hockey IQ.

Overall though, we enjoyed ourselves. If there's a silver lining it's that, I guess. lol
