Funny thing is, Patrik played pretty well in this game. If only he had gotten the puck when he was in open space.

But no one can blame Evans. He plays vertical hockey, focused on the battle. That's why Heineman is so good with him. He has great acceleration and plays a similar style of hockey. Which is why he might not have chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield. They prefer more horizontal with puck possession, passing.

Yeah but that's one aspect of the game and doesn't take into account the complete picture of the game of hockey.

Laine is a disaster in his own end because he is too slow to commit and makes his linemates hesitant on what to do based on his decisions. Often results in double coverage and open ice for the opponent.

This happens on a consistent basis and sucks the life out of his teammates 5 on 5. It's not fun to play like that.

That being said, I wasn't expecting anything more from him at even strength. He's pretty much playing on one leg.

Unfortunately these multi millionaires need a kick in the ass. They don’t need a best friend.

The post-game presser isn't there to pass a message or communicate something to the players. The public message you see on live television isn't the same as the internal message in the room.
When a coach is dunking players during his presser, 99% of the time he is doing so out of self-preservation, ie: "Hey look everyone, it's on them not on me."

Y'all making it sound like we were a lifeless mess getting caved in by the opposition tonight but that wasn't the case. Yeah it sucks losing 4-0 but really the biggest difference was Allen having a really good game and Monty having a bad one (seems to be the norm lately for him which is concerning). We created enough chances to win this game.
Habs are 32OA in rebound goals scored… this game was a glaring example of why that is the case

He was milk carton material today.

I have my doubts that the message will be any different with him in the room.

In the last 11 games, Slaf has 6 points and Cole has 7. Not sure how one is deemed as a passenger over the other. They have both been bad. Cole is back to trying his 0.01% red line top corner shots he’s so lost.
Didn’t see today but Caufield has been our most creative forward all year. Even during this slump he’s still making plays.

Suzuki looks hurt and Slaf needs a kick in the butt.

Well you are entitled to your opinion. It still doesn't change the nature of a post-game presser. The coach has unfettered access to the players and doesn't need to use Luc Gelinas as a proxy to get to them.

If you look at the stats from the 2022/23 season he is as fast as Caufield. But with his knee he won't zone this side ideal. Besides, due to his mental state and injuries (even in preseason, they cleaned his shoulder) he skated little, which affects his game.

Btw, Raimo Summanen wrote about his game here. The article is admittedly from December, but look at the time he was giving him plus Patrick's muscle tip.

If you don't believe it, find the muscle tip and his reaction on the internet. And if you add to that the loss of confidence...the fire is in the roof.

Btw, Armia is slow too.

Call me crazy, but it's time to put another rebuild and trade Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Anderson, Newhook, Evans, Armia, Carrier, Matheson, Savard and Montembeault.

Thanks me later
Lunacy. You need somewhat good player to surround and act as a supporting cast to your young players otherwise you end up like the Blackhawks and your young elite talent are subject to develop bad professional habits and a loser mentality due to lack of leadership.

Keep Suzuki, Cole and Carrier at least, and possibly Evans. You want to get better every season, not go backwards. You don’t quit on a rebuild in year 3.

Buffalo is Buffalo precisely because they haven't had the courage to tear down their Rebuild for the last 15 years.

It's too shameful to admit the rebuild didn't work.

I would say trading assets that went on to play key roles into winning stanley cup for other teams might have played a role too.

They are both dragging an anchor
Not all.

It’s the ‘’anchor’’ fault for putting the puck on suzuki’s stick but he keep missing the net?

Or it’s the ‘’anchor’’ fault if caufield gave the puck on the other team’s stick more than once?

Or the ‘’anchor’’ fault if Hutson couldn’t control the puck at all?
