Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Blues. Fail to come back from another large deficit.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Relax. Habs are still into rebuilding mode;. They tryed to forecheck yesterday and they were like 3 seconds late. How a team can compete when they have slow and done players like Dvorak and Gallagher? How they can win with Evans who is invisible since signing his contract, Armia who is injured, Caufield who doesn't show up and Savard who is too damn slow. Anderson and Xhekaj forgot to play hockey and they were only looking for a fight. This team is far from ready to take the next step. Yesterday was a reality check.
Your not wrong, and im still on the rebuild train. I just think our D zone structure is not good enough and not the correct way we should be playing

Habs are freaking lucky about other results from last night. But the trend is no good. Team looks lost again for majority of the last 2-3 games, save the comeback flashes. Yesterday it was back to not having a clue what to do in your own, neutral or o-zones. I can't understand why coach doesn't recognize that something needs to happen in-game to shake things up. Like anything. Change lines. Sit Laine (man was he ever brutal). Pull Montanbo (and give him " it's not you it's me" talk). Send X to pummel someone. Like FFS.

Did anyone finish the game why did Xhekaj and Anderson get misconducts :slaugh:

Anderson hit Faulk a bit late, nothing close to what the Blues were doing and not getting penalized for, and then Faulk came at him and then Anderson glove punched him in the face.

The ensuing scrum, Xhekaj engaged two guys, saw Walker and then proceeded to ragdoll him around while he turtled.

Yeah I kinda feel like they need a shot in the arm. I've already voiced my displeasure for not adding something at the TDL, but is a callup an option? I know they called up Roy, but he's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

They need some energy.
If we put the very best of Habs system (both teams, mtl/Lav), we can built a team, we can have an energy team but MLS have to play all his players. He can't sit both Laine and Gally in a game. They are a part of the team and have regular shifts. That's the problem. MLS had at least 8 players who had a bad game.

ding ding ! give the man a prize !

They beat us fair and square.

Put this one behind and on to the next one.

Jim Montgomery is going to coach in Montreal someday.
Why is Monty going to coach in Montreal someday? His direct ties to St. Louis (the city not the Habs current coach) made sense for him to go to the Blues, but Montreal? Plus, I think he will be with the Blues for a while so...

Last night was the first time in a long time I actually changed the channel. Lately, the games I didn't watch was because I wasn't home or not anywhere the game was available to watch.

It wasn't because they were losing, but because they were absolute trash. I wasn't going to waste my time watching that.

Their comeback win against the Sens, they were still playing well. Their comeback against the Isles, they dominated and if it wasn't for Sorokin, the Isles would have never been in it. Against Avs, I watched the first half and was not home for the second half. Last night, they were so bad, I wasn't willing to watch the rest of the game.

I can live with a stinker here and there. But I hope it doesn't become their trend down this final stretch.
I did the exact same during the second, I rarely do that especially with recent comebacks. Yesterday it seemed obvious they were wasting my time watching un-entertaining hockey doubled with no chance in hell momentum would swing.

We got beat and outworked by a better, bigger and faster team. No need to waste time dissecting this loss, just move on to the next.
Would have been nice to have the foresight to obtain Holloway the previous summer. Had my doubts on him as a centre, but I loved him in the Oilers playoff run, specifically at the end when he was getting more offensive opportunities. Now he would have been a perfect winger to play opposite Laine as he works his butt off.

oh and Savard, they hung onto that fat useless piece of chicken because 'he's local and great in the room'

"Pieces of chicken, hmmmm"

Thats the issue with so many teams in the league if im being honest.

Too many pretenders.

Sure.

But the Habs are a team playing in this league. Any assessment of their performance should be grounded within that context, no?... Just as any assessment of the coaching efficacy needs to be grounded in both the league and roster context.

The comment "Prepared teams in this league smack us" isn't grounded in either.

It only takes one loss for people to lose their minds and perspective lol.
Considering the fact that the team explicitly asked management to keep the players so they can push together for the playoffs, we've been on thin ice ever since the deadline. The team is not playing that great. Of course there was some nice comeback, but overall, our play hasn't been good, effort was mid, lots of players game actually went downwards (Caufield, Evans, Matheson, Montembault, Heineman, Armia, Carrier to name a few)

For a team that wants it so bad, I just don't see the 100% effort every night. It's ok to lose, I have no problem with losing, but, it's not ok to lose in the way we do these past games. You can't expect to make the playoffs by just playing 20 minutes. This is my criticism right now. They wanted to be there, they wanted the challenge but where is the team for 40 minutes a night? It's been 5 games now that they are like a headless chicken until the 3rd period.

You just perfectly described what it is being 'in the mix', which what they wanted and pretty much expected for this season. There's about 6-7 teams teams in the same boat in the east only. Anything extra will have to be done by roster building in the off season.

Wasn’t he generating a first round pick?
I have a hard time understanding the lack of consistency in certain players play throughout the year. I get injuries and all that or fatigue even, however some players just drop off a cliff in their play. Perfect example is Evans...even our PK doesn't look the same-not nearly as aggressive as it was earlier in the year. How do you lose your "mojo" so to speak. Is it a confidence issue because I think with the way the team is playing and a new contract you would assume confidence would not be a factor. Heinemann got hit by a car so he gets a pass.lol

I can get not matching Broberg at the price.. but why the hell didn't they match Holloway?

60 min effort doesn't come from off season building. You can have all the best players in the world with 0 effort and win nothing, while you can have sub-par players that play a full 60 and win above expected.

It's a matter of effort and I don't think they are doing it for a full game for a good while now. They are sleeping and catching on too late and it's gonna cost us.
