Nah, he needs to double down. This team's losing Pat Maroon next season, need someone to step up in that role.Just noticed he has 62PIM, he really needs to clean that part of his game up.

Right, I did forget about those misconduct. Still, a lot of PIMs for a guy who isn't a physical player. He had 20 of those PIMs cuz of bullshit misconduct calls and two 4 minute high sticking calls this season. Bedard can be a fiesty f*** but he isn't a guy who is going to be averaging 40+ PIMs a season. I think this was an outlier. But hey, if he wants to turn into his idol Sidney Crosby and have 100 point seasons and have 40+ PIMs a season, I'll gladly take it.
He needs to score 40+ next year to think he has that kind of sway yet. Same with the officials unfortunately.Lot of frenzy over Button's dumb little segment. I'm not worried at all about Bedard signing here. The only thing I'm really concerned with is that he'll likely go the Matthews route (same agent) and not give us a break on term or AAV.
He's not guaranteed to do that but if I were him I would.
do people not realize that the media's job is to drum up storylines...Bedard might very well go the bridge route to maximize his earnings, its what most really good players probably should be doingLot of frenzy over Button's dumb little segment. I watched a youtube segment: and the jist is Bedard like 9 out of 10 ROY players experience the sophomore slump due to video analysis and teams targeting his tendencies to take away the Hawk's one real weapon. His like most all other rookie stars found his goals coming not only much less frequently but from further away from the goal in his second year. Of course his not having any other real talent to play with makes it that much easier for opponents to handle.
I fear that that video might come off to anyone but us as a puff piece.
he does touch on something I have noticed is that Bedard is getting keyed in on. That article that "No one is afraid of Bedard" earlier in the season is pure crap. I have probably been able to watch 40+ games this year and Bedard is always double or triple teamed. I think the problem is Bedard is skating into them and trying to split the defense or multiple times I see Bedard skating into 3v1's and losing the puck, which is evident in his giveaway stats here below. Its also kind of alarming that he's almost a 4 to 1 ratio with giveaways/takeaways.
Although Vlasic leads the team in giveaways he also has a high amount of takeaways which makes it more bearable.
Chicago is dead last in high danger chances for goals for and 25th in total high danger goals.
Chicago also leads the league in High danger goals against with 99. 11 more than Pittsburgh as well as 3rd in total High Danger chances. 9 behind Anaheim.
For sure the team around Bedard sucks in pretty much every metric. So his decline this year can be attributed to a combination of not having any other real weapons to work with him but as you said teams are double and triple teaming him as well. It's up to Bedard like any other young star to learn how to adapt his game and eventually have someone to play off of along with at least one other secondary scoring line. It's a steep hill to climb but he can do it .... otherwise I say trade him for a haul while you still can! Would anyone consider Bedard to Anaheim for MacTavish and their 2025 1st. We could end up with either three elite forwards or two top six forwards and of course Schaefer.I fear that that video might come off to anyone but us as a puff piece.

You think 19 year old Bedard's 64 point pace sophomore slump season is so bad that he should be shipped out for Mason "career high of 45 points" McTavish and a back-end top 10 pick in a mediocre draft?
I've seen a lot of overanxious takes on Bedard around here but I think this may be the most truly incomprehensible. At least dream big if you are going to give up on a talent like Bedard at 19. Jesus.
The name says it all. At least make it a somewhat legit proposal with Carlsson. What the f***?

Well I wasn't coming from any real anxiety but I do have my concerns with Bedard. Chances are he'll figure it out but he's not a Crosby that much I feel to be true. Probably a P. Kane as I think W is more where he can shine. Nothing happens though until he has at least two other stare forwards in the lineup. What the f***?

A lot of his giveaways are in the d-zone, which causes him to get hemmed in. He just doesn’t make the simple play to get out of the zone. I can take the youthful, creative giveaways in the o-zone because some can be attributed to poor quality line mates. But I believe he had a stupid turnover near the blue line while attacking that led to a goal against yesterday.Giveaways arent all bad. When you are highly skilled player and try to make playes, not all of them are going to work and it counts as giveaway. You cant start avoiding giveaways because that can lead losing creativity. Sure you need to be more carefull on certain parts of ice. Also I'd rather Bedard make those plays than third line grinder. Ice time also affects giveaways.
You think he's going to be as good as surefire first ballot inner-circle Hall of Famer Patrick Kane and you want to trade him for Mason McTavish?Well I wasn't coming from any real anxiety but I do have my concerns with Bedard. I would wager without looking it up that this isn't true. Bedard gets hemmed in because he has trouble taking guys off the puck. He doesn't turn the puck over at a notably high rate in the defensive zone.A lot of his giveaways are in the d-zone, which causes him to get hemmed in. Ok .. so perhaps I was a little hasty in throwing names out there like MacTavish. My point was is it within the realms of possibility to consider trading Bedard if the Hawks get back a haul. A high first in 25 or 26 would be a must along with two more 1st round picks that project in the top six. I like players like MacT's size and style of playing, he also has leadership qualities so yeah I guess I'm thinking more of Toews type players rather than Kane. Bedard has not lit the league on fire yet but he may very well and then again he may not.You think he's going to be as good as surefire first ballot inner-circle Hall of Famer Patrick Kane and you want to trade him for Mason McTavish?

They're not trading Bedard. Hopefully he signs an 8 year extension for an AAV that will look cheap in a few years and the influx of young talent eases the pressures on him. We're getting C+/B- Bedard and he's still a ppg player at 19 with very little talent around him. It's not hard to project out a few years and see him as a 100 point forward, but they probably need to pencil him in as a Kane type winger from a team building point of view, that's what he probably projects as when this team is a playoff team.Ok .. so perhaps I was a little hasty in throwing names out there like MacTavish. Maybe you get Misa and Marner and your top 2 lines are
LW1-Misa-Marner
LW2-Nazar-Bedard
If you're thinking compete to get out of basement next year maybe add Ehlers and Bertuzzi/Turbo as your top 2 LWers and thats a good top 6 to start year with
