Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Blues. Fail to come back from another large deficit.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

The way the Habs were playing and now this is shaping up for them to go in a losing streak as last time they just needed to come back way too often and ran out of steam.

Even a small 3, or 4 game streak might do them in

3rd loss in a row, we’re starting to miss some fuel
pretty much like after the last winning streak,

THE first period and beginning of the second were a comedy of errors, couldn't watch the shit show anymore.Unprepared in a very important game and completely outcoached, Jack Adams ?.....don't make me laugh.

Outclassed from the drop of the puck................and Monty needs some time off, it's obvious. He was good early in the 1st, and then he wasn't.
Not putting the loss on him, because the team was awful................but Marty give the guy a few days rest.

Well 3 game losing streak but still holding on to that last playoff spot by a thread. It's a MUST win Thursday against a bad and struggling Flyers team.

I'm slightly concerned the Habs may be running out of gas or hitting a wall. Hopefully we see more energy on Thursday.

Since 2018-2019 Montembeault have the same record :
2018-19 : 4w, 3 L, 0,894
2019-20 : 5w, 5L, ,890
21-22 : 8w, 18L, ,891
22-23 : 16w, 19L, ,901
23-24 : 16w, 15L, ,903
24-25 : 25w, 22L, ,898

Thise stats showing Montembeault is playing like a second Goalie. He is playing for ,500. That what you ask. I expect 2 or 3 more loses soon cause he currently has 25win and 22 loses. My point is, he shouldnt play that much. Dobes needs to play more games. Top goalie or first goalie are able to reach a bigger gap between win and loses and their Pct are higher than ,900. In comparison. Even if rangers suck, Shesterkin is still at ,908

I think it was a last-ditch effort to try and be competitive with that roster. Predictably, it failed.

Whatever the case, I don't think Montgomery is someone Bruins need at this point. He seems like a coach that you hire when your team is pretty much a finished product, in order to squeeze the best possible result out of it.
I think he was born to coach. The only concern with him is that he stays off the bottle.

Jack Adams ?.....don't make me laugh.

Sens 1 Avs 5, just a week ago.

You should go look at the scores over the last two weeks. You'll find great teams getting beaten by bad teams, and good teams getting outmatched. Leafs 2 Preds 5. Sabres 5 Jets 3. Knights 5 Wild 1. Canucks 6 Jets 2. Leafs 6 Flames 2. Wings 3 Knights 0. Blues 5 Wild 1. Jets 4 Stars 1. Kings 3 Caps 0.

This is exactly what we mean by missing the forest for the trees. A single game doesn't make a 82 games season.

1 points away from last year's total with 12 games to go with a half assed roster.

Also, people said a nomination IF he gets them into the playoffs, not the trophy itself.

Last night was the first time in a long time I actually changed the channel. Lately, the games I didn't watch was because I wasn't home or not anywhere the game was available to watch.

It wasn't because they were losing, but because they were absolute trash. I wasn't going to waste my time watching that.

Their comeback win against the Sens, they were still playing well. Their comeback against the Isles, they dominated and if it wasn't for Sorokin, the Isles would have never been in it. Against Avs, I watched the first half and was not home for the second half. Last night, they were so bad, I wasn't willing to watch the rest of the game.

I can live with a stinker here and there. But I hope it doesn't become their trend down this final stretch.

Yep, I switched off after the first 10 minutes actually - it was crystal clear that the Blues were going to dominate us for the other 50. Even from that small sample size though, the Blues looked very solid indeed - lots of experience, good system, defending all over the ice, mobile and effective up and down the lineup without needing superstars. Much, much more incisive and dangerous than, say, the Isles.

A bit like a final-form version of what we should be like (although Demidov is coming.)

Yeah. You knew last night the Habs just didn't have it and weren't going to get it going. The Blues dominated us both in terms of puck possession and handed us a physical beating last night.

Need to put things in context here.

1. Montembault has played behind mostly dreadful teams.
2. The team got off to a brutal start this season.
3. Going into last night’s game, he was 7-0-3 and .911 since 4 Nations.

He’s been pretty good. I get why MSL started him. I agree with you that he probably needs some rest and we can’t ride him like this but you can’t blame MSL for going with the hot hand.

Matheson - please trade for a bag of pucks

Savard - please DO NOT resign

Montambeault - trade and get a vet goalie to play with Dobes Primeau. He’ll never be a number 1. He’s way too inconsistent!
I don’t get the hype around Monty…..

A 900 Save % isn’t going to cut it as a number 1. He’s NOT a number 1 goalie and never will be. He’s out of position after making that 1st save and consistently allows a weak goal!

we all knew a game like that was coming.
Completely out coached.
Teams that are prepared for us and expose the dumb man on man defence down low will eat us up.
A 7 game series would look worse.
Smart shooters will just draw our D out of position and go for high screens.
The Kyrou goal was a golden example of why this system in our own end is awful.

We might beat teams here and there. But prepared teams will smack us.

you can add Armia & Dvo to the list of players to let walk, and can someone file a missing persons report on Evans ? he's been practically invisible since re- signing .

Sens had some help with Cozens. It's called some fuel.

Yeah I kinda feel like they need a shot in the arm. I've already voiced my displeasure for not adding something at the TDL, but is a callup an option? I know they called up Roy, but he's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

They need some energy.

Relax. Habs are still into rebuilding mode;. They tryed to forecheck yesterday and they were like 3 seconds late. How a team can compete when they have slow and done players like Dvorak and Gallagher? How they can win with Evans who is invisible since signing his contract, Armia who is injured, Caufield who doesn't show up and Savard who is too damn slow. Anderson and Xhekaj forgot to play hockey and they were only looking for a fight. This team is far from ready to take the next step. Yesterday was a reality check.
