Dach now with 7 points in 11 games. Really liking his game since hes been put on the first line. He's meshing very well, which bodes positively because both Suzuki and Caufield play well with high IQ players.
AC speculating that Dach will become a winger. No big leap there.

Sorry but Habs have done a horrible job developing players through the AHL.
Watch a game and watch how Bush league the AHL has become.
I would rather see Slaf head to Finland before going to the AHL.
I doesn’t matter what happen in the past, who coaching and who he is playing with Slaf is a stud he need more ice time.

I don’t think he will, he just needs better linemates when he’s at C but for now we don’t have that so…
I'll have to disagree there. In the long run, I think Habs acquire, whether it's in FA or at the draft this year (hopefully Carlsson, etc) or both, a C to play in the top 6. I'm more favourable to him building chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield rather than ruining a year with Drouin and the rest of the rejects

I think Drouin's issue is with positioning and him losing a little bit of speed. Positionally wise, he is always placing himself either behind the opposing player or too far for a good pass. When he needs to move, he is also slower, which allows defenders to react and shoulder him away from puck. It's really too bad that he is refusing to be coached on this.

Caufield is going in the other direction. He had the exact same issues last season as Drouin (in addition to being too small to reach errand passes). He has rectified most of it by better game IQ. So it is something that can be coached. He has also really impressed me by his backcheck in the right corner in the 3rd. He did not leave his man, which ultimately allowed him to close Peg player out, when puck was passed to that player.

Playing top line and putting up points is a huge salve. Not to mention there is no reason to think he won't get the opportunity to center his own line down the road when Slaf is ready for top line minutes.
True, he'd be an idiot if he balked at playing with Suzuki and Caufield. I had just remembered that when we first got him. He came out and said center was the position he was most comfortable with.

i was a big advocate to see Slaf in the AHL. Not anymore. It's a shit show down there. There's just no way I want Slaf near Houle. That AHL team is a bad team to see play, boring, not as talented as we thought they were AND badly coached.

Keep Slaf here.

Keep Slaf here and play him more. Put him with Armia and Monahan and let them muscle their way around the O zone.

I think Dach will be at wing as long as Dvorak, Monahan are there and probably back to wing when our next lottery pick (Fantalli/ Carlsson / Bedard) is in the NHL
As long as he's having fun he's not gonna care if he plays wing or c. I remember cringing at Desharnais and Eller bitching to the media when moved to wing.

Slaf needs a fast linemate or two. He is often too slow backchecking. It will come, just not there yet. Which is why he is paired with faster players.

What was shocking to me was just how much better X played on that right side than the natural rightie.
You guys are the yodas of the forum. I’m a notch underneath you two.
When your as old as I am, one shouldn’t ascribe to be ‘underneath’ me unless you have your estate and affairs in order.

I know, but Ottawa lost again tonight, so we're now 3 pts up on them and 5 pts up on Columbus and the other bottom feeders. Separation is going the wrong way.
It should be a different team with Talbot in net. A top goalie has a galvanizing effect on the skaters in front of him. Conversely, a sieve in front of goal just has a deflating effect. Look at the Blues this year, having inexplicably let Husso go and keeping Binnington.

Yeah but that’s what i am saying, there is no good linemates to play with him and he fits pretty well with Nick and Cole so i’m all for him being with them for a long period of time this season and i agree also that if they draft a C this summer he’ll probably be at wing most of the time anyway but i just think he would look great at C with good linemates, the position isn’t really a problem!

Yes center is what he’s most used to and i don’t think he has a problem with playing wing it’s just that in chicago they were constantly switching him i think it’s probably what he didn’t like.

They've got a huge revamp to do there if they want the farm playing the same brand of hockey as the Big Boys.
Cant go back in time but I wish Joel was still there. Don’t care what Weiss had to say about him, he did a good job.

My parents Habs included
Rocket Richard, Jean Beliveau, Doug Harvey, to name a few. You are right...this is not my Parent's Montreal Canadiens 🤣
