Post-Game Talk: Habs Lose in Shootout

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

His play the last 10 games has been great. Scored a great game-tying goal tonight. Maybe that's why, tonight, MSL gave him the chance. His numbers certainly warrant it.
And Cole's been bad lately, do we put out Gallagher or Anderson for him since they've been better in that stretch?

Tremendous comeback! What a 3rd period. No quit in this team at all.

Matheson was outstanding on the OT pk. Having said that neither Matheson nor Savard should be with this team next year.

Guhle-Carrier
Struble-Hutson
Xhekaj-Reinbacher

That should be our D next year. Sign a veteran 7th D to sit in the box.

Good to see Slafkovsky score twice. He was working the boards hard tonight and battling in the slot.

Nichushkin vs Laine is not good line matching. Nichushkin easily won that battle.

Roy was better than people say/think.

Hutson was outstanding. He played 28 minutes tonight. What a player!

Big point!! Even if NYI win on Monday, they can't pass us due to having played one more game. One point up on NYR with 2 games in hand, and we're starting to get separation from CBJ & Detroit.

Also, sign Nelson as our 2nd C next season? He's 34 in October but the guy can still skate & should get 50+ pts this year. Apparently, he turned down a 3 year, 18m contract from NYI ($6m per).

Like someone said earlier, why not send a guy with this much success out first then? Why is this his first attempt all season if he’s this good? Just perplexing decisions.

I don't think the rest of the league understands what kind of impact Demidov will have. I can think of so many moments where he'd have been the difference, including in the shootout.

And Reinbacher too.

Management has a really, really interesting summer coming up.

No.

Can't mess with Reinbachers health while the NHL as at its most physical. Guys are close looking to kill each other every second shift.
That's fair but it's crazy to keep playing him. We need Guhle back asap.

Such a well coached team.

For this roster to be playing this well at this time of the year is damn impressive.

Last few games I've mostly watched opposing team broadcast... I don't recall the last time I've heard so much positive commentary about our team from other teams commentators. Thise who know hockey, know that the Habs are playing very good hockey.

We are building something very special here, what a fun time to be a Habs fan!

Yeah don't listen to the experts here in the GDT you'd think we were trash. Boys deserve all the credit in the world for what they're doing this season.

How can an already staked team like the Avs get guys like Coyle and Nelson? Why don't you give them a cup, already. Jeez

But anyway proud of these freaking guys. Slaf's goal was pure power forward. Call me crazy but I would have tried Roy in the shootout. Dude has hands like Lancelot. And he's getting better and better and more confident.
Honestly I don't think they come out of West - I think Dallas is the team this year

He scored on his last 2 breakaways . While I would have tried Slaf I can understand the choice. Nick or Cole should have scored. Anyway shootouts are a coin flip. I hate them (more when we lose though lol)
I miss ties. I hate shootouts. The most popular sport in the world can have draws, but not the NHL?

Exactly. On to the next biggest game of the year.

I guess they will start Monty again. Because they have a b2b after that and dobes won't start 2 out of 3.

I didn't like the 1st goal he conceded but he was fine overall. The team was outplayed in the 1st half.

The Islanders game felt like a point lost, this game felt like a point stolen. So I guess I can't complain too much.

A 3 game winning streak would be incredibly helpful going into the back to back with Florida though. That could very easily be 2 losses.

What part don’t you understand mate 😂
How you could watch that game and come away with such a poor assessment.

Caufield had 6 shots, was strong on possession and defensively all night. Yeah, he didn't bury a goal, but to say he played poorly is a very weak take with little merit.

Monty? He's literally the main reason we didn't gone out of the first down 4 and made further huge stops late in ghe 3rd and in OT. Again, totally baseless to suggest he played poorly.

That's what I meant, bruh 😇
