Post-Game Talk: Habs lose game 2. Capitals lead series 2-0

good he is out

now what? cant rant on him every post for game 3, that should cut down 3/4 of the posts
We don't know if he's out. I actually doubt St-Louis scratches him. He still has to rebuild him back up into an effective player next season due to his contractual situation. Not even sure if that is possible at this stage. Laine's comment about him being 1 year closer to retirement from the NHL spoke volume about his mental state even if it was a joke. I don't think he enjoys his job at the moment.

I hope that is the case, not saying injury is good
but it would explain alot
good post
It's the attitude that I don't like. McGuire pointed out last night that Laine was visibly frustrated with Hutson when his passes wouldn't land perfectly for his one-timer... I didn't notice that in the 2 periods I've watched but could be. This whole PP1 setup is an utter failure and it's 100% on coaches. Caufield is effectively useless on that PP, and so is pretty much everyone else because the ONLY thing they are trying to do is set up for PL's shot, instead of having that shot as just another tool that can be used should the situration present itself.

You don't need to wait 10 games or for the next season to make adjustments. And even if MSL is being as obtuse as he is and insists on this is how they run PP1, the players on the ice can just say f*** it and do something better. Moving feet would be a great start.

so the PP should be way better if the sit 92? could be we see
CC now is the guy they will feed

That game was ripe for the pickens, Thompson let out so many juicy rebounds but nobody was around to cash in on them.

The final scores have been close, but I don't feel that the games are close. We don't seem to get the quality chances the Caps are getting. Yes, we don't quit, but I see it as us generating some opportunities once the Caps have let off the gas.

We started well but got rattled once the Caps ramped up the attack, and we fell apart. The roster's inexperience is the reason for that.

The lack of a good second-line center is the reason we are struggling to score and the coaching staff is making every attempt to patch things together to compensate for it.

We need to make some tweaks on defense. Savard is like Laine, he can't keep up or process the play at the high tempo being played around him/them.

Logan Thompson: "Luckily things went my way tonight, and we got the two points."

Dylan Strome: "It's playoffs, there's no two points."

What a victim mentality to whine about the ref not protecting you, just stand up for yourself.
The ultimate irony is that the team cannot even score on the powerplay

Yeah we’re a fast offensive team (that doesn’t generate offence including on the PP). D is a weakness not a strength and we need a 2C that can create plays.

Remember when the Caps scored, and neither Struble or Savard were anywhere to be found ? That was awesome, could never sit any of those two legends. Something is wrong with Matheson, it was a better game but he looks uninterested compared to last year. Oh and then the Newhook whiff, what a legend

His game wasn't great for the first half of the season, but it was still passable. Over the last couple of months, he's fallen off a cliff. All those hamburgers and hotdogs got irresistible the moment he decided he was retiring.
We are playing a guy who is retiring, because he isn’t capable of playing at this level. We have better option in the AHL by this standard.

We're right there competing. While it sucks that we lost twice, the games have been tight and exciting.

Our power play is so stagnant, though. There's one play: give it to Laine. But Laine can't shoot for shit right now, so unless we can score on the rush, we're not scoring. Something needs to change there so we can at least be dangerous.

Now idea how to ice a better roster, because it's not like our scratched players are game breakers.

The POS is enabled by the league and encouraged by our shit PP.
Every eye is on Tom Wilson meanwhile Nick Dowd's game is rampant with dirty play.
Xhekaj and or Anderson are the ones who absolutely have to put a stop to it.
Dowd won't get the same matchups on home ice it's time for him to take some licks.
Reading different forums today,it was crazy how many people said Caufield was diving.

We lack the talent and depth up front to compete. It's that simple. We only have two good lines (Suzuki and Dvorak lines). You can't win playoff series versus good teams with only half of your forwards making positive offensive plays.

And we don't even have a strong enough defensive game and goaltending to cover for it.

He's got the worst production in the team since coming back, he was producing well before the injury. It's not a linemate issue.
Evans is back to what he was before his hotstreak and Armia is and has been injured so it's fair to say that Heinemens production will be hurt, not that he's been great either though but tough to say without him being used with other linemates to make a more accurate assessment.
