Anderson sucks.

Also, one of the highest scoring D corps this season... lets use 1 of them in 12 round shootout. Good job, MSL.

Give me Barron over AT LEAST Gallagher, Anderson, and Pezzetta.

You also forgot to add Evans and Dvorak

We have 5 regulation wins. Can't say where they'll be in the ranking a month or two from now, they're only couple of losses in a row to be 30th in the league too.
And they're only a few wins from being in a nice wild card spot.

A couple losses is a bit of a stretch too. At least 4 in regulation when those teams win all 4.

You also forgot to add Evans and Dvorak
At least Evans had a really good overtime shift to earn a chance (even though it sucked).

As for Dvorak, he's got a decent record in the shootout (he's 6 goals, 8 misses career now). So that isn't completely unjustified (though he's never scored one for Montreal).

I think the coaching staff is doing a great job as a whole... This is a thin roster that plays above its head on most nights.

But I really don't get what MSL is doing with Anderson.

5th most used fwd tonight? He looked noticeably bad each shift I saw of his...

Mishandles every other pass he receives.

Zero finishing ability despite getting several prime opportunities spoon fed to him.

Poor work along the boards, rarely comes away with clean possession

Zero physical presence... Doesn't hit anyone & doesn't fight for space in front of the net

what on earth are they seeing in his game that warrants so much ice time?

EArlier in the year I could get wanting to give him time to get going, but we're fast approaching the 1/2 mark of the season, and if anything, he's looking worse.

what am I missing???

The NHL really needs to look into changing the points system to reward teams for regulation wins.

These days once a game is tied in the 3rd both teams are just content on sitting back to get to OT to get at least 1 point out of the game and then taking their chances in OT/SO for the extra point instead of going for it in regulation.

Once the Pens tied the game tonight both teams starting playing to at least get a point which makes for boring non offensive hockey.

Either change the points system to 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a OT/SO win and 1 point for a OT/SO loss or just scrap the loser point and whichever teams wins in the OT/SO gets the 2 points and the loser gets 0 points.

Loser points means more parity, which the NHL wants, so the NHL ain't gonna change a damn thing unfortunately.

For sure.

But like the only forwards with more goals than Barron and Kovacevic are Caufield, Suzuki, and Monahan. Obviously Slaf and Ylonen go ahead in the shootout too. But the other guys? Why?
Because the other guys are forwards who are paid for their offensive skills, maybe MSL didn't want to hurt their feelings - I'm not even kidding.

Too bad. I wanted to go through the whole team & start over at Suzuki again as far as the shootout goes.

Thought Savard played well. Armia is showing a consistent work ethic these days. That was a nice pick-off in OT to prevent a breakaway pass.

Guhle was brutal on Pens 1st goal. Kid is definitely going through a sophomore slump, but I'm not worried about him. He'll get better.

Struble's goal was nice. Good rush then followed the play. Kid is playing really well.

Not sure how Armia & Dvorak went before Monahan in the shootout. I was like, wait? WHAT?! on that decision.

In fact, I would have gone Monahan, Barron & Guhle before Armia. Barron & Guhle have both pretty sweet hands on offense even if they're struggling defensively these days. Then Armia & Evans. Armia has an underrated release & Evans has a great backhand, but neither player actually shot using their strengths.

I probably would have selected Savard before Anderson & Gallagher too. Those 2 should be the final two just after Pezz.

PP is atrocious, and Matheson is not a PP QB. Those two one-timers on the OT PP......ugh  He's just not creative at all & doesn't help set anything up.

Can't wait for Hutson to arrive.

This season + 3 more seasons of that $5.5M contract.
Bergevin's legacy!

In a season with nothing to win really, getting him going might be worth something.

At some point we will need to bite the bullet cause with Gallagher, that's 13% of our Salary Cap and that's with next year SC. 3 more seasons for both after this one.

When Pittsburgh tied the game I turned it off. After 30+ years of mediocrity I am getting near the end of wanting to watch them anymore. I know it's rebuild but maybe I am the guy just sick of watching this organization struggle.
Thing is once the Pens tied the game you pretty much knew the game was going to OT, like how far too many games end up these days, with teams content on getting at least a loser point.

Rewarding teams for regulation wins might open up games offensively, especially in 3rd periods of tied games, unlike now where both teams pretty much just sit back content on getting at least that loser point.

Time for Mr.Clean to shake things up a bit as this team is getting stale like week old bread.
Total revamp starting with the D pairings. Guhle and Barron can not be paired they have been hot shit every time it's been tried.
Caufield needs off Suzuki's wing play him with Monahan. Maybe give Ylonen a shot as the shooter on the top line.
I'd seriously look at giving Guhle less minutes until he regains his poise he looks fatigued.
The rest is and will continue to be a hot mess until we can dump.

I swear Struble has far more deception in his game than Matheson. It's a huge problem that obviously is not going to get fixed because of hierarchy.

Still don’t understand why the NHL won’t go 10 mins 3v3. The shootout stinks
