I’m 100% positive you know more than a guy who has played in over 1000 nhl games and multiple more thousand nhl practices.
I ran the bench for a few games and ran practice in both football and hockey at lower levels for fun.

You know whats funny ? Before being hired, I probably had more coaching experience than St-Louis as a coach! LOL.

Really they should start with passing drills and then graduate to shooting.
Doing the first well will open up more opportunities for the second.

We have a bad habit of always going high and nothing good happens when it misses. The best goal scorers often go with a shot about 13 inches off the ice blocker side which goaltenders have a hard time handling. They will also try 5 hole or between the arm and the body. It results in far more rebound chances for one thing.
Rebounds are useless when the only players on the team ever around to garbage collect them are Gallagher and sometimes Slaf. They mostly lead to a zone exit because unlike the Habs, the other teams can actually send the puck out of their zone without it ending up on a opposite team stick...

An appeal to authority is always laughable though.

No lol. If that authority has proven to be an expert, then there is nothing wrong with using that argument. Martin St. Louis has definitely proven to be an expert at creating offense.

No drilling in there, just aimless shooting at a net ? Nice Martin.

Its as if this guy has no experience lmao.

This serves no purpose. Have a few guys you think need to practice drill this individually at the end of the practice, every practice. Not a general practice like this wtf.

Its an issue for sure, he's a borderline 1C like Suzuki.

It's also very bad because MSL is hellbent on spreading out talent and wants to give everyone their candy.
Trust the process....................MSL has been around the block a time or two.
I don't always agree with his ideas, but this one is no big deal to me.......the lines, well now that's another story!!

Saint-Louis has not proved to be an expert on coaching players. You are confused.

Yes, its no big deal, it won't have an impact negatively or positively, which is most likely a waste of time, lol.

Probably a good time for the boys though, kinda like a day out to eat ice-cream.

You are having trust issues with MSL?

I'm genuinely surprised this isn't a regular thing lol
Whatever helps the boys imo
It is already a regular thing though. There's always players staying on the ice at the end of practices to do drills like this.

.. .and this is why I think MSL has outlived his purpose. He brought the "joy" back. Now it's time to bring a coach that can teach the game, not individual skills.
Still in a rebuild. Still an incredibly young team. When they actually are about to compete, then they can look at coaching. Firing MSL would be a Bergevin move. People are trying to rush this and they shouldn’t.

Seriously, MSL should be watching from the stands as an advisor and not a head coach. Apparently the only qualifications are you speak french, and you get along with the media. Even if you could convince me he's a capable coach, are you telling me Burrows also is? This franchise is totally lost from ownership down, a disgrace. What next? A shooter tutor? Toilet Tag?

how are you guys mad at msl the roster is really bad....you guys want us to be above 500 all year?
Some people in here want to call the rebuild off and make the playoffs...

They have. Slaf, CC, Guhle and a few others have done this after most non-morning skate since the season started. It's the first time they make that most of the on-ice exercises I believe, but sometimes half the ice is reserved for that, while the other half works on other things.

Love all the vitriol from the usual suspects around here...

Experts in coaching and elite performance with nothing but extensive peanut gallery "experience" informing their takes.

All I see is a coach willing to go outside the box to help his players through a rough patch. Nothing more to it. I can assure you that the group appreciates that more than the bag skate old school approach lol

Will it work? Who knows. What we do know is that the group, despite being one of the youngest in the league, has performed above expectations and is competing hard every night. That, more than micro analyzing every practice drill, should be enough to justify feeling confident in the bench leadership.

MSL deserves credit not BC of his playing career credentials, but because of what he's accomplished thus far... The Gretzky comparisons couldn't be more laughable. Some posters really need to get out more!

I have absolutely no problem with these kinds of drills even done on a regular basis.Military snipers take regular shooting practice and pro hockey players can take shooting practice as well. It is actually beneficial and helps many players get that feel for the puck and practice their angles etc Marty and his gang may not be perfect coaches, but they forgot more about hockey than I'll personally ever know.

Everyone craps on Burrows, but they are (were) 10th on the bloody PP! What do you want?

Even if they could, they’d barely get in and get creamed in the first round.

ah so we're finally turning on our coach again huh.Right on schedule.

I guess we're in for 18 months of countless posts complaining about the coach. Let's be organized, this time. Who's going to create the avatars? Who's going to create the cynical GDTs and memes?

never change, HF

PS: while I disagree with the need to can MSL, I do appreciate HF and its ridiculous coach/GM/management cancel culture. It's hilarious

People were already complaining 12 months ago.

Ted Williams used to bat 100 to 200 pitches daily, from his teens to his retirement. Brett Hull was similar. 100 pucks per day.

Practice makes perfect.
