Honestly, he could do nothing all season and wouldn't care because we got a 1st for him. He was one of our best players tonight, so smart on the ice, and I thought he was suppose to be slow, didn't see it. If he plays like this each night, he'll be my favourite guy to root for on the ice. Like a f*** you to calgary, you know?
Those injuries were piling up for him. He’s looked quick and alert all preseason long and tonight as well.

The gamble was a no brainer for Hughes, that 1st could very well turn into an additional 1st at the deadline if he keeps playing like this.

Thank god for Caufield/Suzuki, will make this long season easier to get through. I barely watched any of the preseason and haven't watched a non Habs NHL game in over 10 years but I was really impressed with Monahan as a first look. Glad to see Harris do well and Guhle/Xhekaj hold their own despite some bumps which were to be expected as the jump from juniors to the NHL is got to be extremely tough.

I'd start sweating a bit if I was a Laughs fan, contenders my ass.

Good and entertaining game overall, always nice to beat this sad sack team and losing won't be a problem for us this year so might as well enjoy the moment!

Oh and Cole and Nick are the real deal, so fun to watch.
laffs and cowboys, all hype, no real hope of winning a championship anytime soon.

Guhle is a stud. who will easily become a dominant 1st pairing D. Xman and Harris played really well. Kovacevic was surprising in a good way. Savard was a warrior. Wideman was ok.

Guhle just has that feel to him man. Incredible poise. Our best d man tonight in his rookie p game. He is the real deal and a future #1.

Harris plays with tons of poise too. Seemed to always be in the right place.

Axe looked a little more frantic out there, but I loved his aggressiveness blocking shots and jumping into the rush.

Slaf has all the tools, just doesn't look like he is thinking at am NHL speed yet. When his brain catches up to the game...he will be awesome.

But guhle...man am I pumped to watch him for the season.

Oh...almost forgot....Suzuki and caufield are elite.

He looked real good. He needed that goal and Dach needed that assist more than anyone I can think of tonight. That goal was a perfect storm for them.
They need to find each other because their linemate has yet to make an NHL caliber pass this season.

So many great moments in this game but none stick out to me more than the performance of our young D Corps tonight. I did not expect them to do as well as they did.
Also, Slaf played a solid game and will only get better.

The player of the game for me however is Kaiden Guhle who played like a 10 year vet and chewed up alot of tough minutes.

As a Habs fan watching an 0-8 pre season you can't ask for a more fun opening night.

Why would someone trade the Bedard pick which is likely to be a sure shot at a generational talent for a bunch of guys who have much higher risk of never panning out?
Exactly. But, there will be other options so it won’t matter.
