The defenseman that I would want from the Flyers would be Gudas

26 years old, hard to play against, signed long term

Cap hit could be an issue and depends on the asking price

Pateryn + 2nd?

We put Desharnais on waivers/minors...

-On a great contract for 4 years
-Very underrated defender when not throwing stupid hits
-Only 26
-Great possession numbers

You named most of his positives yourself which you need to think about are a list of the reasons why the Flyers will NOT be trading him. He's too valuable and will need a serious overpayment just like Simmonds would. Pateryn and a 2nd isn't even enough to make it even, yet alone lopsided in Philly's favor.

I understand he played very well for you this season. But I think Gudas is a perfect 3rd pairing d-man with PK responsabilities.

Emelin - Weber
Markov - Petry
Beaulieu - Gudas

Would be a really good defense, really hard to play against. Personnally I would overpay for Gudas, nothing crazy but still.

I think Pateryn + 2nd is about fair value (Imight be wrong, didnt watch all Flyers games)... I would add something to it if we could bring him to Montreal

That really does nothing for Philly. Gudas plays in our top 4 and brings a physical style of play that will compliment all this skill with the kids coming.

All this Pacio vs Schenn make no sense. Pacman stays our 2nd best player after Galchenyuk and maybe he'll be our better man at the end of the season. We need this guy to stay.

That said, im sure Montreal has an interest on Schenn, Gotisbehere and Bellemare and Phily has an interest on Shaw, Emelin, Desharnais and Lindgren.

Was that a proposal?

If so, I'm dry-heaving right now.

No. We could actually trade MDZ for a pick later in the season if need be....not another UFA.

What if Hextall throws in VdV?

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Konecny-Cousins-Voracek
Raffl-Desharnais-Weise
Read-Bellemare-Lyubimov
Gordon

Don't like Philly as a trading partner, I would rather have the Habs scout another team for trade. Pacioretty and Plekanec must go they are slowing this team down right now.

Some Montreal fans' dislike of Pacioretty is baffling. I'd take him anytime.

Pateryn (Right handed bottom pairing D-man) and Desharnais for Del Zotto ?

Not worth it for the Flyers. Hextall isn't the type to give up early on a season like that, especially for a bargain basement price. The MDZ so far this year isn't really worth much more than that, but the guy from the last few years is worth considerably more. It makes more sense to hold onto him and hopefully have the rust shake off.

can you explain how you read that as a proposal lol

Didn't say it was. I asked because I was unsure.

How I thought it could be one:

That poster listed two teams with specific players each team would probably want.

Sounds like it was a proposal/flirting with the idea of a proposal.

Some the Habs fans dislike of Patch is similar to how JT attacked Patch publicly with the US World Cup Team. Patch plays soft for a big guy but his shot is elite which allows him to score 30-40 goals from the outside (primary). Some people wish he was more of a power forward but he isn't.

Like him or not but MDZ is UFA and the end of the year. He does not get more than a 2nd round pick at the trade deadline. Maybe a 2nd round pick and 2nd tier prospect like DLR. That's it though!

I would take a 2nd+ over that package in a heartbeat, though. I wasn't expecting a 1st and Scherbak or anything.

I think MOST Flyers fans look at this return as our expected return for MDZ or Streit. We expect more than a 2nd...but not a 1st. And again, looking at recent returns on Polak, Timonen, etc... shows it's reasonable since both ended up getting 2 2nds.

And we are certainly willing to take DD for cap reasons since his contract runs out this year.

Hell no.

We're not wasting 2nd rounders for players like Streit.

You wouldn't waste a 2nd 55-60 round pick for a top 4 PMD that would emphasize our already very offensive blue line ?

In other news, player have value.

Its would give Montreal

Emelin - Weber
Markov - Petry
Streit - Beau/Pateryn

That's a good core for a playoff push.

I highly doubt Montreal is interested in adding a veteran that old to their blue-line. Del Zotto is the likelier target.

I'm not sure there's a NHL fanbase that irrationally hates players on the team they cheer for more than the Habs fanbase.
