Post-Game Talk: Habs good. Habs win.

Keep in mind that Hutson was 5’7 at the draft. I think the Canadiens correctly calculated that he’d still be there. I din think their assessment was flawled. Nobody knew that he’d be growing another few inches. If they did he’d have been drafted higher.

We can enjoy and discuss at the same time. I think it’s an interesting topic. It’s come up in the past with other players too. Lidstrom for example was drafted later in. The Flyers actually drafted one of his teammates ahead of him I believe.
I do remember his agent and the kid himself stating that they had medical reports on late growth spurts. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

They were right!

If you're claiming Demidov is Jesus at least respect his roots and post a Russian icon.

A win against a red hot Dallas team tomorrow and I might cream my shorts.
I'm here wondering if you went too far and shared too much with us or if I should join you.

Stanley Cup in 2025? 😂😂😍🤩 Just love the enthusiasm. Mais on se calme les tits, les boys. Let’s enjoy this run first.

IMHO, 2025-26 is the start of the real prentention and 2026-2027 of the real contention. This is a glimpse, a flash. An AWESOME flash! Exciting times ahead!

Again, Demidov isn’t here yet.

He’s about the same size.
Hi Chester.......what do you make of the current 9-2 run? The boys are starting to gel and they have beaten really good teams..........is this the corner we all talk about turning?
They are resilient and don't sweat being down during games......
I know we wont maintain a 9-2 type of winning % but can we stay...........in the mix?

Except we have video evidence that they projected he would be there, and he was, and they took him.

Tampa took Koekkoek over Vasy. They took Namestnikov over Kucherov.

I guess anything is technically luck whenever someone is picked at any spot other than 1OA. So we could just say every pick ever made outside of 1OA that worked out is luck.

In this particular instance. They made a projection and were right and were able to grab Mesar and Beck as well while still getting Hutson. They should be applauded not reprimanded.
Jesus, he just replied to my post in a light-hearted manner when I said we got two first-overall picks in one draft. Is it getting to the point here where every word, every sentence, is getting broken down and picked apart and becoming the basis for an argument? No one is reprimanding anyone lol.

Welcome to HF. The Habs' wing. Where we eat our young.

I don't think it has anything to do with Grillo. If you listened to MSL over the years, this is exactly what kind of system and team play he's wanted to implement. He's added little by little since he's been here and players are slowly getting NHL experience. You can't blame him for what's wrong then dismiss his impact and shift praise when things are doing well. He's the one reviewing mistakes, team play and making adjustments directly with the players every day.
I'm referring to the competitive drills Grillo helped implement in practice meant to take players out of their comfort zones. It was documented talked about including what we hoped to accomplish by it and then we forgot about it.. This is about players competing (properly) in all three zones. The two and three player interchanges are completely different but that was the purpose of those drills in the first place. Little segments of games played out very competitively in practice are now being reflected in the games. It's not all about a system the players finally clued in to. The players are also acting out of familiarity for the first time in years.

I don’t think anyone could ask more of Dobes.
He's giving them exactly what he gave Laval once he found his game there.
He will let in the odd bad goal but it will not phase him.
He's strong in his crease and pucks usually don't go through him.
In Laval I found him to be a wall against close in chances.

He will keep them in most games something Primeau could not accomplish at this level.
Once again I'll state the obvious the players know. They practice against him after all.

Hutson is getting his flowers, which are deserved.

I’m not sure people realize just how good Suzuki and Caufield are. They are legitimate stars and first line players.
The thing is…

Other teams have players as good as Suzuki and Caufield. We need two more players that good up front. And two more between our Gs and Ds.

Demidov and Reinbacher and some trade targets hopefully will culminate into a solid competitive roster. Otherwise, with just Suzuki, Caufield, and Hutson doing the heavy lifting, we are only middle of the pack.

One game at a time. Another challenge tonight. Marty seems to have this team thrive on challenges.
I noticed it last season when we started erasing horrible streaks against certain teams or in certain buildings. Challenge tonight sweep our third B2B and thumb our noses at the NHL schedule makers.

Hey man, Gally was working his butt of this game.

Stay there. Forever.

*sigh*

Please don't remind me of my beloved 'spos.

Gotcha chief. Breaking out the lotion.

I said don't remind me of Nos Amours.
It rubs the lotion on the the skin or else it gets the hose again

Hard for me to believe this is just a temporary hot streak since the Habs have been progressively getting better since that Calgary game in November.

The defence core is looking so damn solid. Amber and Guhle have taken the next step defensively and it’s showing.

While he at times looks unorthodox, if not clumsy, Dobes is getting the job done. With this quickly improving team, all they need to be competitive most nights is competent goaltending. With Montembeault, and now Dobes, that key performance factor is now in place. With confidence in their goaltending, the team is playing inspired hockey.

With the wave of young talent (Demidov, Hage, Beck, etc.) coming, Montreal is poised to take the next step: from competitive to contending. Now wouldn't that just be fine.

Such a well coached team...

Very impressive to see the progression, gives a lot of reason to be bullish on how the team will perform through the back half of the season.

It's most definitely a temporary hot streak, the question is where will we settle when we do regress?

I don't think the dumpster fire we were in October and November represents where this team is, neither does our insane stretch since December. The true Habs team is somewhere in between there. I'd guess we're roughly a 0.530/87 point team.
